What's your day 21 progesterone level?

Wanted to share my progestrone levels. My levels every other month were in the 6 range, and the other months in the 9's. I guess one ovary tried a little harder than the other. My doctor wanted to see a 10 or higher on a non medicated cycle and was to start clomid in june, BUT I did get pregnant on a level of 6.4 in may and was put on progestrone until week 13. So it can happen naturally with lower progestrone.

hey girls

just a quick one to see how the meds are working if youre taking meds and how your cycles are going in general. the witch is coming for me sadly. on to cycle 12 (scary)

I took 50mg Clomid this month for the first time and had my day 21 progesterone results today and they were 97.3! Day 21 was 3dpo. I'm staggered. (I'm in the UK.)
My progesterone was only 5.3 on a previous cycle, which was actually taken 8dpo (rather than day 21 as I ovulated very late). I was told this meant I did not ovulate, even though my chart indicates I did, but have a very short luteal phase. In fact I knew my levels would be low because when I came back from the blood test I started spotting and AF came the next day.
I'm now 10dpo with no spotting so far. I'm very pleased with the Clomid, except for the drying effect which was severe, so much so that I don't think any sperm would have been able to travel to that nice juicy fat progesterone-producing egg :0

Hiya!
I got my 21day blood results back today by phone (so it was difficult to discuss it properly as I was in a noisy public place). Dr said my count was 37, so he thinks I'm ovulating...but he had also requested a 'LH' check on my blood, but they stuffed up and didn't test for it.

Does anyone know what testing for this is? It sounded like it was a hormone that would give us a better idea of what's happening in my body, but he said because the other was good (37) then it is probably all ok.

I'm confused.

He did offer a scan of my womb but said because we've only been trying 6 months it is a bit early to go down this route unless I was desperate. I agreed to wait til the new year then go back for the referral for the scan if nothing has happened by then.

Well I started taking Prometrium on CD16 like the Dr. said to and I got a + OPK that same day. Two days later I got a temp shift, so it was either from the progesterone or I O'd a lot earlier this month! If I infact O'd I am 9dpo today. I had some pink CM yesterday evening but no real spotting yet (FX'd I don't!). I tested yesterday and today, but they were BFN's. I am hoping that if my tests stay negative that I at least get a decent LP out of this cycle. If I make it to 14dpo, but still have negative tests, I think I will stop the progesterone and start a new cycle (instead of waiting for CD 35).

I am in the us and doctor said my progesterone to be over 14 to indicate I o. First month with 50 mg of clomid came back at 9.2. Doctor was pretty happy with this and reasured me that I was on a good track and that with clomid I would o the next month. Well cd 23 second cycle progesteone came back as 0.4 which means I did not o. Increasing clomid to 100mg and seeing what happens next cycle.

Basically LH is the Hormone that surges in your body just before ovulation, they usually do a blood test for FSH and LH just to make sure that the hormones that tell your body to ovulate are there. However because your progesterone tests show that you obviously are ovulating, any results higher than 30 (in the U.K) are very good results and an indication that ovulation occured, then the FSH/LH test shouldn't be neccesary.
Does that help?

Well i started taking a VitB complex, i did ovulate early, but still had an 11 day luteal phase. Just had results from my second progesterone check and my problem might actually be follicular, so Vit B's wont do anything and i'll have to have a scan to find out.

@ Misstanya, LH is luteinising hormone, a peak of which causes the egg to be released. Usually there is only one peak per cycle, so you would expect it to be lowish until just before ovulation. If you had high levels continously or frequently during the cycle that might indicate PCOS. At day 21, if that was when your doc was going to have the test done, it would normally be low.

Hi There

My first time posting, not sure whether this post is still going, or if anyone has had any more answers/info since last posts?

I have been searching for 21 day progesterone levels as have just recieved mine back today.

I came off the pill 7 months ago and been trying to conceive for about 4 cycles, periods came back straight away and were pretty "normal" to start with, around 32 days I think although wasn't paying much attention the first couple of cycles as was expecting them to be a bit up and down to start with.

The last 4 i did make a note of was Sept/Oct cycles were about 32 days long but spotting starting about 5/6 days before AF due.

Then Novembers was 27 days long with spotting for 2 days 5 days before AF due, spotting stopped for a few days then AF arrived but was quite different to the previous ones since coming off pill.
(Bright red,not really heavy but small clots/tissue whereas was more browny/red before)

And this cycle I decided to try OPK's and BBT which showed ovulation, luteal phase temps stayed about the same give or take 0.2c and was about 0.3c above coverline so i wasn't sure if that was a sign of low prog.
Had blood taken at 4dpo, and have been waiting for results but started spotting at 6dpo and AF arrived today 11dpo (again red/bit clotty. Maybe this will be 'normal" for me from now on and the first few was the residual hormones from the pill)

So have had an 11 day luteal phase but 6 days of that has been spotting!
So was assuming my prog levels would be low but they were 44.9

Something must be wrong tho to spot so far in advance, maybe the prog levels drop suddenly, altho my temps stayed about the same level until day of AF, OR uterine lining not right OR luteal phase defect OR follicle development not right OR....OR!!!!

Might see if can get the FSH 3 day levels tested, might try and see the Dr tomorrow see what they think, and push for some more testing if poss!

So worrying to think it's your body but it's so out of your control, (bar taking vits! have started vitex and 100mg B6 this cycle, read somewhere vitamin e can be good too) and someone else has (or maybe not!) all the answers to your fears and questions.

Also worried as I used to spot when i was on the pill, and scared it could have been masking something all the years I was on it =0(

Sorry to waffle on, want to talk about it all the time but don't want to tell many people we are trying to conceive in case it takes forever, can talk to hubby about it all, but its on my mind all the time and don't want to worry him any more than necessary, specially with all my theories!!! Feel like an hypochondriac but know somethings not quite right!

Hope everyone else is getting on OK on their quests!
xx

Hey! I know it's easier said than done but try to not worry. First step is to see your doc for advice. I know people who spot and their docs say its ok. Best of luck to you and keep us all posted!

lizc- I completely understand how upsetting it is a feeling like a hypochondriac! I have been TTC for 11 cycles now, and I have the same problem as you. I normally have a 10/11 day LP. I went to my Dr. and he gave me Prometrium which for a couple months lengthened my LP to 11/12 days, but I continued to spot usually starting around 8/9dpo. Last cycle was the worst though I had a 7 day LP with spotting starting at 6dpo!

So anyway, all Dr.'s have a different opinion on LP. Luckily mine thought that my 10/11 day LP was too short (I also had an early MC in the past year where my progesterone was low) and is trying to treat it. Right now I am on Prometrium to try to lenthen my LP. I am hoping my LP returns back to my normal this month if not I am back to my Dr. to see what else he can do!

So I guess my point is yes talk to your Dr., because why most people tell you that anything over 10 is OK, sometimes 10/11 days can be a problem! Especially with spotting!

Good Luck.
