So glad I found the baby section forum I did not know where to ask this question!!
My baby is 2 weeks old today and since he's been born he wheezes in his sleep! The weird thing is he really only does it at night. I asked my doctor about it at his first appointment (6 days old) and he said it was normal.

But literally a few days later I was awake all night listening to him breath because it was scaring me so bad! It'll literally throw off his breathing rhythm.. and I know babys breathing rhythms can be sporadic anyways because they are learning to breath but how noisy is too noisy?? Just wondering how many of you had your baby's wheeze! I do have a noisy baby he's always grunting and coughing and sneezing and breathing funny.. I can handle all that stuff! But it's the loud sounds that seem like he's having trouble breathing that freaks me out. It's not just a quiet wheeze when he inhales its like a loud snore.

Please tell me other people experienced this!??

My LO sounded awful when she was a new born ESP after a feed. I hated it but luckily she grew out of it.

My LO does the same and only of a night time. She also makes a lot of strange noises too. Midwife said its normal to me

Totally normal. My son did that when he was a newborn, and doctor told me it's completely fine.

Totally normal, they are learning and adjusting to their new world. For the longest time they were surrounded by fluid and had no air around them and now they do. They've got to train their lungs so to speak. My daughter was a c-section and had tons of fluid to expel so she sneezed alot and was rather wheezy but all was fine. They should have some fluid in their lungs until they are a month or two, all that amniotic fluid from when they were inside of you breathing. if you are concerned you could bring it up with your doctor again but it sounds all normal and par for the course, to me. Congrats on your baby :flower:

Thanks ladies!! Its good to have some reassurance. It freaks me out sometimes so bad I almost want to take him to the ER! When will this stop? I feel like its getting better then all of a sudden it'll happen again I just dont want it to mean that he'll have breathing problems later down the road!

It stopped for our little girl about 2 months, but she was a c-section. It really freaked me out at first too as I am a first time mom, but I was told it was completely normal. It will definitely go away :) My LO has no breathing problems at all. Hope I have reassured you and you can now enjoy your little bundle!
