I wouldn't put any products in but I don't see the harm in having a bath. I had a shower the day after I had my section, with the bandage still on which was waterproof. The bandage came off the following day and I was showering everyday. The hospital encouraged me to shower.

I think the main thing with the bath is making sure that you can get out!

Xxx

Thanks for ur reply. Hosp got me in shower day after to help take bange off i was just not sure about ittin in water with the wound if ya get me! Inwud haye to cause any infection xx

I was told you aren't supposed to take baths until your incision is fully healed (no scabs etc) otherwise you run a higher risk of infection.

I think as long as your wound isn't weeping, you can take a bath. Tea Tree oil is supposed to help with the healing but don't put too much in.

My hospital discharge instructions say to take a clear bath daily. The warmth feels so good and should help with healing. But u can call ur doc and ask

Thank u no one gave me any leaflets or nothin. An didnt realise til i got home i didnt get any info on how to care after c-section. Midwife came twice but each time i forgot to ask her haha she cumin again today so il make sure i remember x

I honestly cannot remember when I had my first bath, check with your midwife. I think mine was roughly a week after my section mind.

The main problem I had was getting in and out of the bath as I really struggled with standing/sitting afterwards. You know, the moving of positions. Anyways, my Uncle was kind enough to give me some disability aids he had brought for my Gran (he obviously brought her new ones lol) and it was a bar that went accross the bath on suckers to help levy yourself in/out. It worked great :D

i was told baths were fine just nothing in the water and was also told dab scar dry after shower or bath to help healing and risk of infection they said kitchen roll was best but if not that a clean dry towel enjoy a good soak in bath but make sure someone is there in case you struggle getting out x

I was advised not to submerge the incision for 2 weeks. :flower:

thanks my baby just over 2 weeks old now, n i still aint taken a bath, an still keep forgettin to ask midwife haha xx

I had a shower twice a day in the hospital and i bathed every morning when i got home from the hospital after my c-section xx

With my first section I had a waterproof bandage on for 2 weeks, and was allowed to bath/shower etc. My OB/GYN used glue for the wound with my second section, and I was unable to wet the wound at all for 3 weeks. I was always encouraged to keep the wound dry at all times until it had completely closed ( wasn't scabbing or weeping etc)

I was told a bath is fine as long as no products in it. Just make sure you can get in / out or someone us at hand to help if need be xx
