I am just peeking over from WTT, and have a question for you who are currently TTC. I am going to be in this area in several months, but have a question for you all.

Did you come off BC (more specifically, the pill) immediately before TTC, or did you give your body time to adjust?

I'm more of the mindset that I should give my body time to adjust, but then hear about so many people who get their BFP during that extra fertile period right after stopping.

I came off the pill at the end of January this year.
I would give yourself some time to adjust when coming off the pill and not ttc straight away.

Hi I came off the pill after 10 years in January and got pregnant the very first month however I miscarried almost immediately. Now is it April and still not luck again. I would def suggest waiting and letting your body get normal. Going through a miscarriage is really tramatizing.

Thanks, ladies. I have always been one of those people who believe your body does need time to adjust. I think I'm more paranoid though, and feel that if you get a BFP immediately after coming off the pill, something might happen to the baby. I know there is so much information that says otherwise, and many people have very healthy, happy babies when getting a BFP immediately after, I still think I will take at least a couple of months before to get it out of my system.

Thanks very much, and good luck TTC to you both.

I think everyones body is different better to be safe than sorry. I wish I would have waitied so maybe I could have avoided going through that pain. Good luck to you as well

I came off BCP Microgynon in November and TTC straight away...Withdrawal bleed immediately and then longish 37day cycle and then since then its all been normal 27day cycles...no luck conceiving tho :-( x

I came off Sep 2010 - still no luck! If I knew then what I know now....I never would have been on it in the first place :-(

I came off the pill in Oct, still no BFP. I would recommend stopping a few months before you want to TTC, so you can not only let your body "regulate", but also so you can learn about your body when it's not on birth control (i.e., signs of ovulation, etc.) I wish I had stopped before our wedding in October! Good luck!

Hey, i came off the pill in october, and have only had on AF in Jan and a light spotting in Mar, so my body is still adjusting, i know a friend who came off same time and it didnt take her any time to adjust, but just to be on the safe side i would say give your body time just in case you need it. i wish i did!!

I went off the pill last April, after 12 years of being on. Still no bfp. :sad2: Had I known then what I know now, I would have gone off years ago. I always thought we were extra fertile right after it, too. I would say give your body some time and just do natural family planning or something until you're ready. Good luck!

i came of yazmin in jan of 2010 after being on it for 7 years and we started TTC 2 months ago. i had to go to acupuncture to help regulate because it messed me up after i stopped them, i gained weight, broke out with bad acne and my hair started falling out. i'm finally back to normal.

I stopped taking the pill at the end of January. I haven't used any back up birth control methods. I have been having longer cycles, I just am allowing my body to adjust.

Hi Pooch

Just wanted to let you know that I also had hair loss, weight gain, have just recently (this month) had bad acne - and I never had so much as 1 spot the whole time growing up! was treated for depression/anxiety attacks and completly messed up cycles since coming off Yasmin last Sep 2010

I never actually put it down to Yasmin but it makes sense now! How long did it take your cycles to regulate?

Hi Everyone-
I stopped the pill after about 20 yrs of use last november. I started vitex right away and became somewhat regular very quickly. I wish I had stopped sooner though. I wouldn't have started the vitex if I had a few months to just see what my body would do. No BFP yet :( But I don't think BC has anything to do with that. Actually in my opinion, once your cycles are back to normal it can actually help with ttc in the fact that women are starting to try later in life now and the pill helps prevent endometriosis, which is one of the major causes of infertility. Just my 2 cents. I know lots of women who took the pill for 15 plus years and got preg within the first couple months of stopping. I wish I had that luck!!

I had my Mirena IUD removed 3/4/11 and am NTNP right now until my wedding in June and then we'll be more actively TTC...

Oh, if you're considering TTC, just quit taking them. This is my 15th month off the pill and still nothing!!

I stopped the pill YEARS ago! It did take my body a while (nearly a year) to get into a regular cycle where I could spot all the signs oh what's going on down there.

I'd 2nd everything, I wish I knew this site existed whilst TTC and used condoms whilst the pill "got out my system" being on month 5 after the BCC is heartbreaking, and i'm sure you ladies who have been waiting years its even worse :-( xx

I stopped the pill in January and my first cycle - February was 34 days, March was 27 days and April was 27 days....I think it is best to go off and give your body a few months to regulate. I have just started temping this month and using OPKs.....best of luck to you! Baby Dust!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gave up pill after 10 months of being on it - stopped it end of september, october was hell for me...hormones all over the place feeling sick thought i was preg...nope..and my hair fell out and got so dry....my weight has gone down as well, the pill made me gain it i didnt realise! if only i knew how much the pill messes you up...well never again!!
i waited until january this year to TTC as some women said if you try straight away its more likely to end in miscarriage....as hormones still in the body sometimes and body still trying to regulate itself
