I am thinking I should wait till my first scan (end of Sept) but my body is already changing and ppl are starting to say, Look at her, she is gaining weight! Bah I hate it and want to share my news but trying to talk myself into waiting....did you ladies tell early or when did you wait until?
Also when is the start of the 2nd trimester? is it 13 weeks or 14 weeks?
Thanks!

I have been outed unofficially multiple times already among close friends and diving buddies because I am known for a Homer-Simpson-like beer habit and pretty much was busted with that first bottle of non-alcoholic stuff, plus I had to quit diving about a month before the end of the season. However, I just pretty much smile and say I'll let them know when I have official news :)

I don't mind if people close to me know, I just want them to know it's still on the down-low so nobody does anything silly like post something on my Facebook wall for every far-flung relative and acquaintance to see.

People have no business whispering about your weight (how rude) but it might help to let a few people know unofficially if you feel like letting them in the know. Just be sure they can be discreet.

Thanks Torontogirl, I think I am just so nervous to tell in case anything goes wrong....I just cant wait to see a pic, hear a hb, know everything is ok....thanks much, maybe I should consider sharing with a few. At work we wear coveralls and I'm gonna see about changing my size so maybe it wont be so noticeable for a bit longer...thanks for your reply...and by the way I am a Hamilton girl lol....hugs.

Hey! I lived in the hammer for almost five years, I lived it, I only went back to TO because of work. We should stay in touch. Is this your first?

I feel the same way you do, it won't really feel real until I have my scan and see a kid in there, right now it's not totally registering!! I have a midwife appt. on October 5 and a scan immediately after that, apparently, can't wait!

Having had 3 miscarriages, we waited until1 6 weeks to tell anyone. I am larger than many women, so hiding it wasn't an issue.

I told after my first scan at 6w3d.

According to BnB, 14 weeks begins the 2nd trimester. My doc says it's 13 weeks. :)

I only told a couple of close girlfriends so I had someone to confide in, but the rest of my work colleagues suspected I was pregnant due to my unusual eating/drinking habits, I never denied or admitted it until after my 12 week scan! Those first 12 weeks seem to take forever but I wanted a picture to show everyone, plus I'd previously had a miscarriage at 10wks.

I know how you feel, you want to tell everyone but don't want to tempt fate. I'm currently 15+ weeks and haven't told 'the world' yet but when they see my belly its pretty obvious now :winkwink:

Good luck in your pregnancy

We told family and then my husband couldn't hold it so he posted it to his FB page. I started thinking, why not? So, I announced it on my FB.

I haven't officially told anyone at work (other than my supervisor and two trusted co-workers.) I've decided to wait until later. If somehow I'm outted I don't have a problem with it. It's a joyous occasion.

I told the people close to me, whose support I would want in case anything went wrong, early on, and the rest I waited til 14 weeks. I had a lot of bleeding though and wasn't sure what was going on so I was more fearful of losing the baby than I would have been if I had no complications. If no complications I would have told a bit earlier. :)

My sister and mom knew at 6 weeks (I was feeling sick). We told the rest of the parents and siblings at 16 weeks.

I'm 20 weeks on Tuesday, and my kids, work, relatives, friends, etc. still don't know. I'm waiting until after my big ultrasound at 21 weeks. I'm holding off for a few reasons, mainly because my kids are young and I want to make sure everything is ok. They have no concept of time, either, and nine months of asking me if the baby is coming tomorrow didn't sound fun.

Plus, I've only gained less than 5 pounds and don't have an obvious bump, yet.

We're not telling anyone until we know the chromosomes are normal. I did this at 12 weeks the last time around, and hoping for the same timing with this pregnancy.

Oops sorry forgot to mention I'm having CVS done :dohh:

We told our parents as soon as we knew, our brothers and wives a couple of weeks later and it was general news after teh 12 weeks scan, didn't do a FB update until after the 21 week scan and to be honest there would have been no hiding it by then anyway!
