When did you start dressing your baby in clothes every day?

So my son is my second baby he's 2.5 weeks old. With my daughter who is 20 months old I dressed her in outfits pretty much every day, little soft pretty dresses etc. But I really dislike boys clothes and am wanting to keep him my little baby for longer so I'm thinking of keeping him in nice baby grows in the day from next/debenhams until he's like 3-4 months and then start dressing him in 'proper' clothes every day after that.

We do have quite a lot of outfits in 0-3 etc so I'll probably put him in a few before then. I tend to just buy him soft dungarees and things, I personally don't like babies in jeans as they look so uncomfortable!

So what did everyone else do?
P.s we do change him in to a nice baby grow every morning and a different one for bed every night. Plus he's sicky so it tends to be easier and less faffy

With DS he was in babygros or short sleeved/legged rompers until he was about 6 months. I've made more of an effort with DD but she's mostly in short sleeved vests with leggings.

My two were often in onesies for the first 7 to 8 months, though I would add a sweatshirt or a jumper. They would also wear clothes, but not everyday, like tracksuits or trousers and jumpers. As soon as the summer came I always dressed them during the day in shorts and t-shirts. They grow up so fast! X

DS has mostly been in real clothes in the day since he was a few days old, mostly soft dungarees or soft trousers and tops. He wears a lot of short sleeved and short leg romper a too as it's been so hot. Now he's 3 months he also has soft jeans, shorts etc. he never looks uncomfortable at all. You can get some lovely baby grows from next, we have a couple that I like DS wearing in the day. He's very sicky and there's only so many clothes in willing to buy when he sometimes has six or seven changes a day so even though he starts off in clothes he's often back in baby grows by lunch. Never have to worry about wether a babygro will fit over a cloth nappy either.

Whenever we go out really. If we're just popping to the supermarket I might leave him in a onesie but if we're going out to visit someone or go somewhere I'll get him dressed. Mostly just so he gets use out of his clothes.

I have tonnes of babygrows up to about 6 months. I have sorted them into "day" babygrows and "night" babygrows. I don't have many outfits in newborn, maybe about 6 or 7, but I have a few more in 0-3 and lots in the bigger sizes. She will probably be in 0-3 over Christmas when loads of photos will be taken etc hence having more clothes.

When she is tiny I will put her in her nicer babygrows from the "day" pile with cardigans and a hat, it is pretty cold here in winter so got snowsuits too.

Most of the clothes we do have are pretty comfy anyway: we have maybe 2-3 less comfy dresses, the rest are sort of babygrow material etc.

Myself and my oh love to put on jammies etc after work so we will probably have her in comfy clothes around the house.

I hate to see babies (as in tiny babies) in really uncomfy clothes, with jewellery and hair bands and stuff on. Fair enough if the kid likes it but half the time they are screaming and clawing them off!

I dressed them in soft cotton joggers or dungarees and top from quite early on. I'm not a big fan of sleepsuits for all day, just my personal choice! I think as long as they're comfy it doesn't really matter

I dressed dd almost everyday. But when I look back at the pics I wish I had more if her in just little cute baby grows. I love a baby in a little white baby grow & they get bigger so fast - and then clothes just look better.

I'm planning in keeping ds in baby grows until about 3 months so I have loads of pics of him looking small & cute.

I'm not a fan of boy clothes either. Can anyone recommend any lovely places to buy boy clothes?

What kind of stuff do you like?

Cutesy animal kind of stuff or little miniature adult clothes like shirts and pants?

My daughter was predominantly in sleepsuits until she was about 8 months. Now she mostly wears tops and leggings - it's easier for her to move around that way, as she's very active and walking now. Some days she'll just stay in her pyjamas if we're not going anywhere. If we're going somewhere nice, she'll wear a dress.

My baby is 4 months old and a wears 3-6 months size (maybe not for long). I dress him in pajamas, onesies, and rompers. He goes to day care in a onesie with soft pants because it's cold there. I'm not a fan of rough and tumble boy clothes that just look like older boy clothes or adult clothes. The 6-9 month clothes I've bought for the next round are just as 'baby' as his current clothes.

I think I would have been the same with a girl.

He's a baby - I want to dress him like one.

I made an effort to start dressing him 'properly' when I went back to work at 5 months pp, but only because he comes with me and we spend a lot of time at play groups (I'm a nanny). Up until this past week, the weather has been lovely so I've had him in a vest, light tshirt and shorts/joggers. He has a few smarter outfits that we put him in if we're visiting family :)

I love little boy clothes! I'm having a girl this time and am so sick of pink! I love m&s for baby boys, next, h&m and gap are also nice. For more expensive I like boden.

Lau - I rarely bought pink clothes for dd (when it was actually my choice rather than hers!!). I love the bright clothes in m&s for girls & my favourite colours on her are navy blue and yellow. Thanks for the tips about boy clothes

Straight away, I use onesie son an evening and clothed during the day. Little shorts and shorts, dungarees and t shirts. Love dressing him up!

I still prefer to dress DS2 in sleepsuits or rompers or vests and trousers. I hate t-shirts as everytime I lie him down, pick him up etc it rides up and annoys me! I'll probably start dressing him regularly in outfits when he's crawling and can sit himself up. I'm probably in the minority anyway as I've only just started dressing DS1 in jeans as the ones I find seem to be restrictive and uncomfortable. I definitely stick to sleepsuits at home, once you get in the front door its all about pjs in our house!!

I dress him every day. Rompers and sleepsuits for bed or lounging indoors, soft trousers and shirts or rompers for going out. I love the little shirts and trousers though. I tried jeans once but didn't like them. I use 3-6 really soft cotton ones (he's only 11 weeks) so it's not too tight on his belly.

Judging from your post, I don't put my children in "proper" clothes. Except for those all in one sleep suits with the zippers that go from the foot to the neck, we don't distinguish between pajamas and day time clothes around here. I also don't change my kids' clothes every day if they're still fairly clean. My son (5 months) right now is in a onsie with a t-shirt over it. He had a pair of soft cotton pants over it earlier today. My daughter is wearing a t-shirt and pink sweat pants. When it was hot, my son would wear just a onesie. When he was a newborn, he wore lots of gowns. My daughter dresses herself these days and has been choosing her own clothes for over a year now. We go for comfort and functionality, primarily. I suppose there was a shift in how I dressed my son at about a month. That's about when I stopped dressing him in gowns.

We are in a hot climate so it really depends on the heat. For both boys when tiny I do sleepsuits at night then for the day a onesie with either soft trousers or shorts. If it's really hot they go in a short sleeve/leg romper. I like button under tops until they are walking then switch to t shirts. My 2 year old lives in shorts and t shirts for day wear.

I like to differentiate between night and day , to me part of that is getting them into a routine of getting dressed for the day .

Should add that they both when tiny did look like they were dressed appropriately as babies. No stiff denims etc.
