when did you start putting your baby in a shopping trolley?

I usually give the bars a quick wipe down as Alice chews them! So far she's not caught anything, not even a cold.

If she didn't eat them I wouldn't bother wiping as I think exposure to germs is a good thing.

Yeah Isabelle will most likely eat the bars haha, we took her to a restaurant yesterday and she sat gnawing the edge of the table. I will try her today when I go to asda :)

 I'm sure she'll love it!

I read a story in a magazine about a baby that caught herpes from a shopping trolley ... My mum bought me one of those covers for lo to sit in while in the trolley but I still don't trust it. I'd rather have him in my wrap ...

Hun, there is no way they could prove herpes from a shopping cart! It is almost impossible to get herpes without direct contact, it does not survive on objects like that. So much more likely from human to human contact.

That being said, I've never been afraid of a little germ exposure and my children have all been perfectly healthy, and they go in the shopping cart seat as soon as they can sit up well.

I wish I had of kept the original article... It had pictures of the baby covered head to toe in herpes blisters the poor thing...
HSV can live up to 3 hours on a porous surface and 4 hours on a solid surface... Def enough time to transmit

This is another article

Don't get me wrong I'm not a germPhobe... I happily let my children play in the dirt etc...but some things I guess I don't wanna risk. Seeing the poor baby's pictures I guess stuck in my
Mind...

Also Hudson was diagnosed with a heart issue which now may also be a lung issue so I'm a tad paranoid about him gettin sick.

The demographic at my local shops is pretty atrocious tbh which is probably why I'm paranoid..I think a big handful of people haven't had a shower in two months let alone bothered to wash their hands lol

Honestly sometimes I will travel over 40km just to go to a nicer grocery store lol

When she could sit sturdily unaided at about 8 months, and I wrap a muslin cloth round the bars in front as otherwise she'd just latch on chewing away, not so much for the germs, but the fact she'd be dribbling all over the floor.
And your lo weighs more than my 18 month old, so weight wise she's fine!

From about 8 months i think. xxx

I think it was about eight months, but probably could have done it way earlier as he was sitting unaided at four months! He loves it, slings one arm over the 'backrest' like, "Hey ladies, check out my sweet ride".

:haha::haha:
This cracked me up! Can just imagine it....

At 8 months when she was able to confidently sit unaided. She chews on the bars and everything, too... ah well.

There is no way anyone could prove a baby caught herpes from a shopping trolley.

We put my LO in the seat from just after 6 months I think. He was getting too big for the ones where they lay back and he hated that posture. He also chews the bars and it hasn't done him any harm.

6 months old, when she could sit unaided. Although I remember putting a box of tea bags at either side of her cause I was scared she would fall over. Lol x

Probably around 6 months, that's when he was able to sit up, I would bring a blanket though to help aid him if the seats were a bit too big.

At 3 months. The trolley we were using had both an infant seat and a regular seat on it. He became unhappy in the infant seat and I lifted him out to carry him but during a loooooooooonnnnnnggggg wait in Argos I tried him in the regular seat and he loved it.
