When did you take your newborn out??

1 day old. Had a home birth so we had been in the house for the first 24 hours. Got out to the park so ds1 could let off some steam ☺

Other than visiting family, our first didn't go out until he was 2-3 weeks old. We went to Asda on the way home from the hospital with our second.

Our pediatrician is pretty cautious and suggested we wait until 4 wks to take her out, so she didn't have her first outing until then.

Pretty much right away. If I was nervous strangers would get too close for my comfort, I would just baby wear :)

Thanks for all the responses.

If only i could figure those darn wraps out! I baby wear but not usually until they can fit a carrier well. I cant for the life of me get the wraps right! :haha:

We started going out the day after we got home from the hospital, so 3 days old. First day we went out to eat with family and wandered around Little Italy so I could have some chocolate cake from their bakery. :haha:

We kept strangers away and held her close to us, so we never had a problem. She didn't get sick until around 21 months when she had a mild 24 hour fever, so she's never caught in bugs from being out in public.

We took our twins out when they were just a few days old. We had lots of drs appointments (our babies were preemies), so we didn't have a choice. After the first few times, it became much less intimidating. Good luck!

I had a dog when ds was born so we went for family walks after day 2, I had stiches and couldn't go too far, just around the roads!
I'm a big believer that fresh air is good! This time I've got ds so he'll want to go out but also dh home for two weeks so I can take it slow.
Have you seen the close caboo? It's like a stretchy wrap but meant to be really easy to use, I've got one really excited to use it as I didn't baby wear until 3 months last time.

To the park/out for a walk was within a week... To the shops etc was nearing three months. We just didn't want to before then! Our pediatrician advised no big crowds for at least 6 weeks.
