When did your baby start using a walker?

they're banned in canada - which really sucks because I know my LO would LOVE one. and my back is getting sore from holding his hands so he can stand all the time

a lot of children get into accidents with them. They fall down stairs or are able to reach dangerous things. Walkers are actually illegal in Canada for this reason (really - you can Google it!)

It really bothers me that they banned them for this reason - once they can walk on their own they can fall down stairs and reach dangerous things too... baby proof and keep an eye on your baby and it's all preventable!

They were legal when I was a baby and my mom said I was in one all the time and loooved it.

Thats exactly what i thought!

I have a really ingenious way of getting around this whole falling down the stairs in a walker........dont let them near stairs whilst in a walker

Lo never used a baby walker, he had a push along walker that he used from 7 months. He's now walking at 10 months.

We bought that one last week Terrilea but she is far too small for it, she's still under 13lb though so smaller than Ruby. It's so cute!! xx

We never used one. Didn't really see the need. I'm not so much worried about the affect on walking/falling down stairs, I'm not a massive fan of plastic toys.

I got one last week from eBay as I didn't want to spend a fortune. I'm going to find it invaluable for popping LO in while I go for a wee or rustle up some lunch. It's not as important now because she can't crawl, but I pop her in it for a few minutes and she loves it. She gets bored being on the floor sometimes!

We have a tiny house so there's nowhere for her to use it upstairs, but surely common sense dictates that you don't use it near stairs/steps?!

ETA - M is just over 18lbs and fits it nicely on the lowest setting.

We did the same, lo had a jumperoo too but hated going in once he could crawl (6,5m) but pulled himself up at 7 monthsd and would cruise around the jumperoo fiddling with the gadgets and he got the push-along walker at 9 months and took his first steps on his own by 9,5 months to full fledged walking by 10.

I tried my LO is one when he just turned 7 months old and he couldn't even touch the floor lol bearing in mind he is quite a big baby too, he weighs 23lb
we have a jumparoo so I havnt bothered getting one
xx
