Just wondering what to do really, Freya sleeps in her basket in our room, she has a cot in her room, but we also visit a lot of people and stay over so she uses her basket there too.

So...I'm wondering if a next good step would be to get a travel cot and get her used to that in our room and when we go places and then get her in her cot in her own room after that?

I'm not really happy with having her in her own room 'til she can roll over properly both ways (which she can't do at all yet).

She seems to be getting too big for her basket now, hits and kicks the sides a lot and sometimes ends up with her face pressed against the side which scares me!

Here is a pic of how big she is in it. What do you think?

Awww that pic is so cute!
I know what you mean, Ruby kicks the sides of her Moses basket a lot, but it doesn't seem to affect her sleep and she's very big for 4 months.

I am the same, I don't want to put Ruby in her cot until she can roll over and back.

I think it looks like Freya will be in her basket for a while longer though. Travel cots could be a possible next step but I've been told it's rather hard on your back to keep lifting them in and out!

Finn was in a crib and still outgrew that at about 8 weeks (when he could roll. He'd get tangled in the bars, plus he's unusually tall) but our room was big enough for a cot. We got a travel cot for 27 quid from asda (if you use your bounty pack voucher you can get a fiver off) and I let him nap in that and when we are on hols or at a friends for dinner he'll sleep in that no probs so its a godsend.

Em was too big for her moses basket by 8/9 weeks but we couldn't fit the cot in our room and I didn't want to pop in her own room until slightly older.

We used a travel cot until she was ready to go into her own room and it worked well for us. We only ended up using it for a few weeks though as Em then went into her room at around 4 months.

Aisling outgrew her moses basket by about 6 weeks but she's on the 96th percentile for height and she loves to stretch out when she sleeps :D

By 4 weeks! - He loves to stretch, and hated touching the sides, so we had to move his cotbed from the nursery to our room

I stayed at a friends with Reuben last week - took a travel cot, and he was a bit wary - i think it was cos his cot is right next to my side of the bed ( due to lack of space!) and his mattress is level with our bed, so in a travel cot, he was on the floor level, and a bit disorientated. However, i think he will get used to it.

If you are going to be staying over, then a travel cot is a good longer term solution anyway - as she will outgrow the basket soon, so i think they are worth the investment!

Is there room in your bedroom to put the cot in there? just that if you do use the travel cot, like someone said above, it is a long way down to pick them up! then maybe jst use the travel cot for staying over at others!

3 months for us he kept shuffling down to the bottom xx

we put lucas in hes cot a week ago and he loves it theres more room for him

Joseph was about 7 weeks old when he outgrew his moses basket, we had to squeeze his cot into our room, there was no space left! x

Thats what we did... she outgrew her moses at about 4 1/2 months and we then got a travel cot. However, its didn't last long as she rolled over and kept escaping! I suppose it depends on which travel cot you get... i'd avoid a flimsy pop up one.

That's true. We got the sturdy type for our escape artist, doubles as a play pen so well worth it!

Rileigh went into his cotbed at six weeks as he had outgrown his basket and has slept much better since.

We have decided to put Myles in his crib tonight, he almost fills his moses and i am wondering if that is contributing ti him waking up all the time, we have the crib in our room but once he outgrows that he will have to go in his own room cos we can't fit the cot in ours!

We switched about 3wks ago (so almost 4months), purely for the fact that she started rolling onto her side to sleep.

We were worried about putting her in her cotbed in her own room to start, but tbh, she actually seems a lot safer in there.

Seb outgrew his at six weeks and has been in his cot in his room since then. He sleeps much better now and loves the room too :-)
