Hi all Ellie was only 7 weeks early but she has still got really big develoment issues and also cerebal palsy in her arms and we are waiting to be checked for her legs

she had a spica cast on til the day before her 1st day, 5th Nov and she been bum shuffling for a couple of month now and just started crawling last week and she can stand at the couch etc but she is making no attempt at all to even put one foot in front of the other

so just wondering when all you wee ones walked or even attempted walking

thanks all x

Alex didn't proper crawl til after one, til then
She "swam" the carpet :haha: it was 18months for her first step

Harry didnt crawl til he was about 13 months, he didnt even really roll till he as a year and he took his first steps when he as 16months 3weeks and 1 day x

Hello! At 4 months my son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy also, and we were told he might never walk. Fast forward a year and all signs of cp have disapeared. He started walking at 15 months corrected and is now an 18 month old who just LOVES making me chase him around the house in circles, constantly

Connor only mastered sitting up on his own at 11 months but was walking at 18 month. My full termer walked at 20 months, but she was a bottom shuffler!

Holly took 4 steps at 15 months actual. A few days later she got the adenovirus which hit her for a few weeks and then she didn't take anymore steps for 2 months. She then walked between furniture for a few weeks before plucking up the courage to walk about.

I can't remember! And I don't have FB timeline yet, so it'd take some digging to find out ... Hang on while I go thru old video & photos ...

Edit to add:

Right, in April 11 (Andrew was 20m actual, 17m corrected) I have photos of him stood up, but can't remember if he'd worked out how to step away from furniture.

Then in June 11 (so 22m actual, 19m corrected) I have photos & memories of him walking around the grass at Harlech Castle.

Just checked my own B&B thread about Andrew:

May 4th I posted that he'd managed two unaided steps :happydance: so he was 21m actual.

Then June 21st I posted that he is walking more often than crawling, so I was proudly declaring him to be a walker :D

Hi there!
Oliver never really rolled until he was about 11 months, he could do it he just didn’t want to. He still has not mastered crawling and just does push ups from his knees to his toes, quite amusing really .:haha:
He is now 14 months and pulls himself up to the chair and can walk sideways a few steps. Considering all the Dr's told us he would have severe CP as he grew up due to the fact that he was early, with numerous grade three bleeds to the brain, plus he had to have three courses of steroids to get him off CPAP, we think he is doing pretty well.
Be patient I know its hard we’ve all been through it, every mile stone means so much to us preemie mums. Also have faith as no preemie is the same but they are all strong little fighters and do things in their own time. xx

Niamh has just started walking at 15 months and she was only 5 weeks early. She has been cruising round the furniture for a good 4 months.

aw has she see ellies wont take any weight on her legs at all x

She will do hun. Ellie has only had her cast off for 3 months, it's going to take time for her to build the strength up in her legs

No it was from observation only by the neonatalogist and the physiotherapist, he was mildly paralysed on his right side, so hemiplegia. It was stiffer than his left, his fingers were always in a fist, his toes were curled in etc... We were signed up on a waiting list to join a specialist center. We did weekly physiotherapy while we waited.

Seven looooong months later, by the time we finally met the initial evaluation team - a two hour interview with 2 specialist doctors, a nurse, a physio, ergo etc etc - they essentially told us 'we don`t know why you're here, he's perfectly normal' so we were very lucky!

aw that must have been so so worrying for you although im surprised they never done an mri scan before scaring you, Ellie has black spots on one side of her brain im sure its the right hand side which makes her left hand side have cerebal palsy so we know for sure it wont go completely but physio should help xx

Our son didn't even try to walk until 18 months. He was born 6 weeks early and then hospitalized at 14 months. Every time a child is seriously ill it sets them back because they need to put their energy into healing. He also didn't talk until after 2 but had over 40 baby signs so I always knew what he needed. Now he runs with the rest of the bunch and has a huge vocabulary. We each have our own path! Hang in there!

My daughter was born at 35 weeks and walked at a little over a year.
