When do babys stop rubbing their eyes?

So my lo rubs his eyes, face and ears when hes tired but the problem is he doesn't stop until i stop him by moving his hands. We still have to swaddle him or he wont go to sleep cos hrs rubbing so much and if he does go to sleep and he stirs at night he will rub his face until it makes him cry!!

I was hoping he would of grown out of it by now but it doesnt seem like hes going to any time soon.

Does/did anyones lo do this and when did they stop?

I dont to swaddle him forever! Hes learnt to roll over and i think he wants to sleep on his side or belly but i have to stop him cos he cant get back over if hes swaddled!

William used to rub his eyes a lot more than he does now but he still rubs them when tired. I don't expect him to fully stop for awhile (if ever) - I even rub my eyes a bit when I'm tired.

I just had to be careful with William because he would always scratch himself while doing it. I think it got better around 7 or 8 months.

My LO rubs his eyes when he is tired. I kind of like it because during the day I can tell when he is ready for a nap and quickly put him down before he gets grumpy. He used to wake himself up at night too by rubbing his eyes. But for the past couple of weeks, he puts himself back to sleep after rubbing his eyes. So it does get better, soon!

Is he overtired? Sometimes that can cause excessive rubbing. If you're putting him down during the magic moment where he's sleepy, but not exhausted it can help. What's his daytime routine like? It's likely time to stop swaddling.

My LO is terrible for this but when he started wanting to roll and sleep on his side I decided stop the swaddle and what I do is sit with him when he's going sleep and hold his hands by his side, now as soon as I do this be tends to keep them there alot more than he used to. Granted it doesn't completly stop it but he's learning when his hands are down (or held) its sleepy time.

Not sure if that will be possible if your LO self settles on his own tho.

My daughter still rubs her eyes when she is tired. Sometimes, it's a lot and I have to pull her hands away.

My LO is the same. He does it more when overtired but sometimes I put him down at what I think is the magic moment but then he keeps himself awake for so long he gets overtired! He usually only does this for naps!
