Heya,

So my regular gynecologist and my FS seem to disagree about when your LP is considered over. My gyne says that when you start spotting, your LP is done, and my FS says you should count that its over from when your period actually starts.

I just wonder what other people have heard/think?

I have always thought it to be the first day of your cycle which i count as the first day of heavy bleeding.

Oh god, do you know what, after 2+ years of TTC I never really thought about it like that!

I think I consider my LP to be over as soon as I start spotting and I know AF is on her way, but then I completely contradict myself because I don't class CD1 until i have to use a tampon...so i guess in my cycle I have invented a limbo day for myself

I've heard both things from different doctors  so I'm not really sure!!
I very rarely spot before AF, but even when I do I consider the first day of normal flow to be CD1 :hugs:

Honestly, for myself, I look at how much and what kind of spotting it is. I know that its really a vague way of judging it, but I have a lot of spotting sometimes. And when its light and only there on and off, I don't count it, but when it becomes heavier and I actually need a panty liner, I count that as the end of my lp. It is confusing though! I wish there was a conclusive way of figuring it out. Because it makes a big difference for me in being able to say if I have a normal lp or not.

I do not usually spot, but after I had laparoscopy/hysteroscopy last month I started spotting before AF, so if my spotting is brown and only there on and off, I don't count it but once it turns red (even if it's on and off) I count it as CD1.

I don't spot before my period. When the :witch: shows up, it really comes on kind of suddenly. I never asked my doctor that because I haven't spotted before my periods in so long, I never thought about it. After several rounds of provera last summer/fall, it just shows up full flow.

You girls who don't spot are lucky, I have a cyst and polyp and I always spot. Any where form 1 - 7 days before AF. Such a pain!

I had always considered it to be the first day of any bleeding. My FS considers it to be the first day of "full flow"

They've sweared to me on more than one occasion that spotting and cramping prior to "full flow" doesn't matter at all. I just can't fathom it. I always get terrible cramps 1-2days before along with light bleeding, that just doesn't seem conducive to implantation to me?

I agree Fisher, and so does my gyno. I think when the spotting is heavier, that means the lp is over. When its really light, I think that doesn't count. But this is a very confusing topic, for sure!
