Just curious, I know it's different for everyone, but I'm wondering when my uterus should move up? I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow. I feel like I definitely am getting a little bigger around my lower belly, but I already carry a bunch of extra weight there so I don't know for sure. I do know I can't really suck in my stomach anymore.

Experience, anyone? Thanks!

Midwife told me it starts moving up and out between 16-20 weeks. I lifted my nephew at 16 and pulled all the muscles down there. It was agony and I had my hubby phone the midwife because I thought I was having a miscarriage.

She told me Id pulled them and that 16-20 you're more susceptible to pulling muscles because that's when your uterus starts to move out and tilt. :dohh:

Saying that I'm 21 weeks an can feel mine just above my belly button but I've still no "real bump", it still needs to move a bit higher for me still.

Your uterus moves up from under your pubic bone at around 12-13 weeks. It's SUPER hard to feel it then (or notice a difference), but you should start to really see a nice change at around 15-16 weeks. You should even be able to feel the outline of it too, if you press kinda firm on your belly in the right spots. Make sure you're laying flat when you do so, too. Doctors don't actually start measuring your uterine height until 20 weeks or later. At 20 weeks, your uterus should be sitting RIGHT at you belly button line. :-D

Because I have the twins, I feel maybe a bit more. Mine moved up last week in week 12 and I had incredible cramping with it. Very scary, but babies are fine. You may feel the move.

Agree with GPapo1013 on this!

Mine moved around 13/14.. but I am short-waisted so that could have played a part.

Mines just moved up the last few days & I'm 19+2 hun x

Mines just started to come up. I can find babys heartbeat around 2 inches lower than my belly button

My next appointment is at 15 weeks exactly, so even if my uterus hasn't moved up should she be able to find the heartbeat with the Doppler?

I was 12wks and 1 day at my last visit and they found the heartbeat with the doppler right away. I'm a little heavy in that area so I was surprised! lol

Thanks! I had my first appointment at 11 weeks and she couldn't find it, althought she did tell me she probably wouldn't be able to. Even with that I am getting impatient about waiting, one more week!

In the last few days I've noticed that my organs/skin right under my breasts seems to be squished up more... I guess that's a sign it's moving up? It wasn't like this before and it's totally uncomfortable now.

Trust me girly, you're uterus HAS moved up, especially by then, you just might not be able to feel it yet, because it's still pretty low. And doctor should definitely be able to find the heartbeat!! Enjoy listening to it! It's magical! Bring your cell phone so that you can record it and share it with family <3 :happydance:

Oh it's funny you say to record it! I want to soo bad and people were looking at me like I was crazy that it was silly! So do you think they'll let me?

MY doctor actually suggested it!! Haha. Just tell them to hold on once they get the Doppler out. Tell your doc you wanna record it. She/he will TOTALLY understand..people do it allllll the time! Then you can listen to it whenever you want. It's SO cool to hear!

Oh I'm so excited! I want so bad to record it! DH won't let me have a Doppler :( he said it would worry me more than anything, which he is probably right.

I'm 19 weeks and mine moved about 2 weeks ago. It's a different kind of pain of your pull a muscle during that time which is so easy to do.

I was having what I think was round ligament pain quite a bit last week. If I sneezes, coughed, moved positions to quickly, etc. it was intense pulled muscle type pain but only for literally a second or two.

I know round ligament can happen throughout, but does that maybe mean it is starting to move?

Your comment just made me think of that liveandlove.

I think mine moved up a few days ago, I woke up and my tummy looked higher! I have a long torso so I was so happy to see it higher, went from looking bloated to pregnant! :happydance:

Hmmm... does having a short torso (ME) make a difference for the uterus moving up? Oh god, what have I gotten myself into... ;)

Lol I agree with him. I wanted a Doppler right around 14 weeks, and my friend was gunna let me borrow hers, but my family talked me out of it. My mom said, it'll stress me out SOOOOO much if there's ever a time that I couldn't find the heartbeat..she's right!! I WOULD be freakin!! Haha Luckily, I had an apt at 16 weeks and got to here it and then around 18 weeks, baby started moving, and now baby moves almost every night after I eat dinner haha. Soo, that's a SUPER nice de-stresser! And with the ligament pain--that is definitely what it means! You're ligaments stretch and pull to make room for the uterus that is moving up into your abdominal cavity. Yay!! :happydance:
