Hi, I had a scan today and all is well and we saw a heartbeat. I have a doppler and am wondering when to try using it ...... Im thinking of from about 8/9 weeks but not sure if this will cause more worry and harm if I dont find the heartbeat, although rationally I know it can be way too early still!

ive got a doppler and thought i would have a go earlier this week at 8+1, didnt find anything but not worried at all. will try again at 10 weeks but think if you find anything before 12 weeks your very lucky. if you think it will worry you then i suggest not trying till past 12 weeks.

Thanks, I think Ill have to give it away for a while lol

I used it in my mc pregnancy and was so sure I was picking up the heartbeat, I even did it after the mc to check the baby wasnt still there - denial I suppose - and heard the same noise that I thought was the heartbeat but I had a scan that day and the baby had gone ........ I must have been picking up an intereference noise or something. So Im sort of reluctant because unless I pick up a really clear heartbeat then I will tell myself Im picking up the previous noise. It also brings back memories hearing that noise again that wasnt actually the heartbeat....

I know I wont be able to resist, but at least if I do it from 8 weeks I can keep telling myself its far too early!

My doctor didn't even try until I was about 12 weeks along.

i did find a HB but 100% sure it was mine. babys HB should be about double the speed of an adult HB.

good luck...im gonna try again in the next few weeks x

It has taken me to 14 weeks to be able to find the heartbeat regularly on my hi bebe. Honestly, I wouldn't try until 12 weeks, maybe slightly earlier if you get a good doppler like a hi-bebe. :hugs:

mw told me off on friday for stressing told me to put it away until at least 12 weeks!

x

I found the heart beat from 10 weeks, was looking from 9 weeks. Took patience but i found it :)

THey say not to try until 15 weeks so I would wait a bit to keep from stressing out for no reason. If you are going to check try right above your pubic bone it seems too low but it's where you'll find the strongest early heart beat good luck!

mine was found by the dr at 12+1 and i have been back twice since to get them to listen again :) my oh won't let me rent one or buy one as he said i'm not qalified and i'll go out of my mind if i cant pick the hb up, at 12+1 the dr even struggled to find the hb XXXXX

I would wait til 13 weeks minimum, after that is much easier....I have a posterior placenta and struggled to find it til 14 weeks...if you have an anterior placenta it could be even later. Please dont worry if you cant find it!! x

Where can you get a doppler from? How much are they?

Lol I got mine off an auction site - still not sure if it works!

I got myself all worked up this morning as I had brown spotting and symptoms disapeared, and I couldnt pick up the heartbeat, but had a scan and all is fine, no idea where the bleeding came from!

I started looking at 11 weeks, found it after about 45 minutes of searching and poking at 12 weeks and have been able to find it easily since about 14 weeks. It takes time and patience at first and even now Bean can wiggle away but I chase him or her down quickly for another listen! :)

I know the first week of look (from 11-12) I was an anxious mess as to why I couldn't find it...now I am addicted to the thing and have already gone through two tubes of ultrasound gel. I am out at the moment and wondering if hair gel will work? :haha:

I found the heartbeat this morning, so clear and most definatly bubs! It was reading in the 170's which I guess is great, and was still in the pubic hair line to the left, I heard it for a minute but then my blimmin pulse over-rode it! Then it took me a few more minutes to get it again. So reassuring to hear that, but I think I was lucky and it was a fluke to be able to locate it so quickly and early, so I wont expect to find it again so wont panic!
