I have been reading lots of posts on this forum but not sure if i have looked in the right place.

Myself and my partner have been ttc for a yr with 2 mc. I have a healthy girl from previous relationship. My oh has 0 children. The gp have done blood tests on myself that were all ok. If and when i have a third mc they will investigate more. I seem to have the fertilized egg but something seems to go wrong at the implantation stage? maybe? i have pos pt but 2 days to weak later neg pt. Can this be due to something with sperm or is it jst me?

Gp has never said that oh shud be checked. I just worry we do not have time on our sides. Im 34 will be 35 in Oct.

Any advise would be grateful

Good luck to you all ttc

xx

We're ttc and have been for 15 months now - I've recently been for blood tests and internal exams and was told to get my OH to book in with his doctor to get samples taken from him as well, before we can be referred to the infertility clinic.

So I don't think you need to wait til they tell you - if you're worried about OH's sperm, just get him to book in with his doctor to get a sample taken and tested and get it all checked out.

Good luck! x

Oh seems to think that cause im getting pregnant he is doing his bit? Any thoughts?

I'd speak to your GP and see what they think hun or maybe google 'can sperm cause miscarriage' and see what happens?

I know when we went DH got tested at the same time BUT that was because we couldn't get pregnant - not sure what protocol is when it's recurrent mc??

Good luck x

at my dr's that was one of the first things they did. Maybe just go to the doctors and suggest it xx

the first g.p i saw for awful and when i asked if i needed to get my oh to go in he just said well he must be doing someting right!
All feeling bit of sore point at min and very emotional. Feel like giving up at the mo. Just feeling like everything is my fault and im inadequate for not been able to be what mother nature made us for again. Im so lucky to have my beautiful daughter and im blessed to have her. maybe she was my luck and no more is meant to be. :-(

i would get a SA just to make sure and eliminate the possibility. its not that serious and its a one off thing if nothing is wrong.

You should also get to a specialist if you have recurring mc's....could be a progesterone issue or something else such as a septum / prolyp etc

MC can occur for lots of reasons. I would push for a SA as there might still be an issue with his sperm even if you are getting pregnant.

Well my oh got sperm analysis results . All we were told were that his sperm was lower than average and he had a few abnormal ones. Said didnt see any reason why cud not conceive.

Have they checked your progesterone levels? Multiple early miscarriages are often caused by a progesterone deficiency. Getting a positive test, then a few days later a negative one is called a chemical pregnancy, but truly its a very early miscarriage. Next time you get a positive HPT, rush in for a blood test at the doctor's that day to confirm the pregnancy. Get a progesterone check at the same time. If you lose it, you have your 3rd mc on record and if your progesterone levels are super low, it may be the cause.

This issue can develop any time, even if you've successfully carried to term before.

A lot of the sperm abnormalities prevent the sperm from even fertilizing the egg. The kind of gene issues that would cause miscarriages would not really be detected by an SA. Are you taking your folic acid before you get pregnant? That helps prevent birth defects, some of which can cause a miscarriage. They say you have to take it for 3 months before getting pregnant for it to have the best effect.

I'm sorry if this is all stuff you know or have tried, just offering the knowledge I have in case its useful.

Hi lisa,
Thank you. I have been taking folic acid 5mg for a year now because am insulin diabetic.

Got my fingers crossed at min got a bfp week last monday and still is today. So we will see what happens. Am at hospital tom so maybe they will take bloods then.

They did blood tests on me a few weeks ago that they said all came back ok.

Good luck! I'd insist on an HCG blood test tomorrow if I were you.
You may have had ok progesterone before, but if the level drops off, you can lose the pregnancy. I would ask that they throw in a progesterone check along with the HCG (some docs do this automatically).

If there is something wrong with your husband's portion of the genetic material that is causing defects that lead to miscarriage, I'm not sure there is anything they can do to test for this or fix it. Hoping everything works out for you this time. Let us know what they say tomorrow at your appt.

Ok I answered earlier and mentioned that an SA would not detect any genetic defects. I have just ran across something called a DNA fragmentation test where they can check on the normality of the DNA in the sperm. Maybe look into that?

Thank you Lisa. Never heard of that. Hopefully wont need it! But i have googled that and saved it for if i do xx
