We just stopped breastfeeding yesterday for various reasons but my question is when will my boobs feel normal again? Right now they are huge and hard. When they get to hard I've been pumping a little just to get some relief but for the most part I've been trying to leave them alone so they don't continue to produce milk. Is this right?

No idea but in the same position! My LO is 2 weeks old and have been EBF but have decided to stop as its impacting my little boy (3.5) and I need to be a good mummy to both of them!
I am currently sat with rock hard boobs but don't have a pump so am unsure what to do!!
Will be stalking to see if anyone has good advice
Xxxx

hi huns i still combi feed but i believe expressing small amounts when you are in severe discomfort is a good way. it keeps you just about comfortable without signaling your production. pp, could you hand express a little? some ladies recommend cabbage leaves in the bra but i dont know much about this. you can take paracetamol if you need to x

I stopped BFing on Thursday but pumped every few hours to see if I could get a good amount to feed him...but I couldn't. I decided to stop pumping Friday evening. I just pumped for a few minutes to relieve engorgement but tried to space it out as far as I could so they would get the message to stop making milk. Overnight is worst. Yesterday morning I expressed a bit in the shower and then I pumped for a few min around 1 pm and I haven't pumped since. I've been putting ice packs in my bra when things start to hurt more and taking ibuprofen (doesn't seem to help much though). I'm more sore than anything right now but they aren't getting engorged any more. I've got a few hard spots that I will work on in the shower again today to try to make sure I don't get clogged ducts. I remember when I stopped with my first I took some sudafed for a few days to help dry it up. I would do that this time but sudafed has started making me have insomnia in the past few years and I don't need to mess with the precious hours of sleep I can get right now! I just want my breasts to stop aching and hurting when I hold my little one against me!

i stopped breastfeeding on tuesday and my boobs are back to normal now. its sunday today. its taken 5 days but i did pump a good amount of on thur night as my boobs were agony. i used ice packs all day friday and it really helped with engorgement. i also expressed just a small amount to make my self comfy. it shouldnt really take more the 72 hours for u to feel comfy again. x

Thanks ladies :) I'm feeling better today. Still kinda tender but not in agony. I only pumped a little yesterday morning to get some relief and then took an ibuprofen and put in a sprits bra. I slept in the sports bra and woke up feeling okay. It's more comfortable with my bras on right now but I'm guessing that's cause it's holding them in place :haha:
