I'm waiting till my Lo turns six months to start solids which will be april 11 but am confused.Don't know a thing about it and just am clueless on the whole thing and how it fits around formula as well.how long after the bottle do you feed a solid? Is it breakfast lunch dinner everyday that you feed them at that age.I'm just really asking what others have done maybe a guide of their day and what they have fed whether that be purees or finger food.Kind of leaning towards purees first etc.I have tried a puree with Lo a couple of times but really he wasn;t interested at all. It was just a jar of apple and pear rice cereal and to be honest he just looked at me like i was stupid. There was no happiness that he was trying anything new.

I'm so nervous and in the dark over it and I'm stressing over it as I just don't know where to start.

Another issue is that since birth LO has brought up alot of his formula sometimes we've never figured out why but hes always gained weight so its not a bad issue., just a ton of messI'm worried any solids will be the next thing coming up.That doesn't sound like alot of fun:(
any advice welcome

We started with purees about an hour after breakfast. Just a few spoonfuls to start with. Its only once a day to start with as the digestion system needs to adjust to solids so its done gradually. I wouldnt worry about the sick thing, many babies with reflux are weaned early to help with sickness.

I found it a bit stressful too! I started with BLW but found the gagging quite scary so switched to purees. I started just with a couple of spoons of fruit puree once per day a little while after his mid morning bottle, then gradually increased. Now our day looks like:
5am bottle
8am baby porridge mixed with some fruit, bottle
11am bottle
2pm pureed veg, maybe some fruit if still hungry, plus water
6pm bottle

I only recently dropped his 2pm bottle and switched it for solids. Eventually we will drop his 8am bottle too ( it does say on the formula box he should only be having 3 bottles but I think he'll need it for a while yet).

I've been roughly following the timetable in Annabel Karmel's book Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner but I do adapt it to suit us. It's worth a read if you're wanting to do purees. You can also think about baby led weaning, where you give finger foods and let LO feed themselves. Either way, you wouldn't jump right in with 3 meals a day. Milk is the main source of nutrition til they're 1, so don't worry when most of it ends up on the floor :) Good luck!

We started early at 4 months, but I'd do the same at whatever age.

We did purées since we started early, a few spoons at breakfast, introducing a new taste every few days. Once he had got into the habit of breakfast (about 10 days later) I introduced puréed veg for dinner. I've slowly let the purée get thicker and introduced lunch with finger foods too, like little baby biscotti, and now he can feed himself little square cheese spread sandwiches, or toast as well.

Our routine looks like:
Wake up bottle at 9am
Breakfast 10am
Bottle 12pm
Lunch 1pm
Bottle around 4ish
Dinner 6pm
Sometimes a couple of ounces after dinner, but when he's 6 months I'm going to try him with water here instead.
Bedtime bottle 9pm
Then any night feeds.
