Where you live

Brighton

Good:

The beach (obviously)
Amazing shopping and loads of lovely independent cafes and restaurants
Lots of stuff to do with kids
Great art scene
Good pubs
Close to London
People here are really chilled out and friendly
Really good schools and nurseries

Bad:

Expensive as hell
Some of the buildings are quite ugly
Quite a few slightly sinister crazy people
Oversubscribed schools
Overrun with tourists when the sun is out

New Forest:

Low crime
good schools
parent partnership and inspiring you (two fantastic kids schemes for disabled children we are lucky to have)
national park on door step
good beaches in walking distance
live on the waterside
feel safe out and about at night etc
only 25mins from southampton for shopping etc

bad:
crap transport links
crap internet
tourist months are ridiculous and they feed the ponys and donkeys making them more likely to go up to cars etc making more accidents
takes ages to get anywhere with speed limit of 40

I thought parent partnership was countrywide? We have it here but we've never needed it.

I meant parent voice opps lol xx

Parola

Good:
Small countryside town so lots of nature close by
Peaceful (i.e. no worry about violent thugs or anything like that)
Easy to reach big cities (Helsinki and Tampere) by train

Bad:
Nothing to do here. At all.
Its right next to an army base so if I'm trying to have a lie in or a nap I often get woken by gun shots
Expensive
They don't like foreigners

Hertfordshire:

Good
Countryside and Green Belt
Very easy to commute in to 'town aka London', great rail links, tube links etc. Near M25, M1 etc.
Lovely market towns as well as shopping centres.
Variety of things to do for children that are less than an hour away e.g. Whipsnade, Legoland, Knebworth etc.
Very good schools, Primary and Secondary.
Nice standard of living and friendly neighbours, everyone's just pleasant.
A lot of history.

Bads
Ridiculously expensive - houses, council tax etc.
Over subscribed schools.
Expensive childcare.
Sometimes a lack of transport so need to have a car.

No need to move other than wanting a bigger house but that's not a necessity to us :)

Defo agrees with this i live in letchworth been here 3 years now originally from north london i have not had a car for nearly a year now and omg i feel lost everyday i want to cry lol!!!

Wolverhampton, or WolverTRAMPton as its locally known.

Good.
We produced one fifth of One Direction (is this good?) Liam Payne.
Oh and Beverly Knight, we are so proud of her, we named a bus after her. I've rode it!
We have the Black Country Musuem, which technically falls under Dudley but its literally 2 minutes out of town.
We are named after Lady Wulfruna.

Bad
We produced one fifth of One Direction :haha:
We aren't known for being the nicest people, we are a town of absolute chavs unfortunately.
A woman was arrested for attempted murder after dumping her newborn near a rubbish shoot the other day..
Those who are fans of Jezza K. We produced Mad Dog, the man with a skull tattooed on his face...
Usually the criminals on Crimewatch have "links" here...

Essex

Good.
Loads of things to do
Right near the city
Weve got our name on tv (lol)
Great transport links
Barack obama flew over my house going to (southend airport)
Helen mirren/Lisa snowdon/lee evans etc lots of famous people from here
Lots of beaches
Longest pier in the world

Bad.
Essex Reputation
Expensive to live
Everyone knows everyone
ummmm...cant think any more..

I'm going to add to this!

Good-
Stunning countryside and lots of history
Friendly people
Great schools
Weather

Bad-
Towie
How everyone has an opinion on my county when 99% of the time they haven't even been here!

Norwich

Good
-Lots of history, the castle used to be the prison!
-2 shopping centres
-Buses(when they are on time) run frequently
-Premier League Football team

Bad
-Everyone think people from Norfolk are simple and their own sister
-Too many estates full of chavs

I'm just outside of St Albans in a village. We have a train station but I work in Hendon and my station goes in to Kings! Not even close so a car is a must. Hubby is a contractor so is everywhere, so again car is a must. A downside of living where we are. We had a look at Letchworth a few months ago for just a gander at houses, we quite liked it

West Cork (Ireland)

Good:
Close to lots beaches
Rural
V friendly (everyone in both the local town and village are SO lovely)
Little crime, feel really safe here
Nice little country schools
We have the best postman EVER!

Bad:
rural :haha:
NO public transport, HAVE to have a car
Tesco won't deliver food to my house!
Always gets phone calls from delivery men asking for directions (we are not on the sat nav!!!) nor can anyone spell it!
Have an hours journey to get to any 'big' shops or 'fun' things for kids
Roads are shocking - lots are more like dirt tracks

(anyone would think I like to shop online! :haha:)

But it is a lovely place to live and prefer here to where I grew up (Stoke-on-Trent)

Aberdeen

Good

The seaside! The North East coast of Scotland is gorgeous, and has fantastic beaches and rugged coastline.

Loads of great restaurants, bars, shops.

Great place for kids. Loads of toddler groups, parks and things to keep the kids entertained.

Truly multicultural.

Butteries - sort of like flat, slightly salty croissants. They are yum and a local speciality.

Largest proportion of multi-millionaires in the UK, outside London. ;)

Bad

On a rainy day it looks a bit drab, due to the grey granite buildings that dominate it. They look great in the sun though, as the granite glitters in sunlight.

Residents parking permits. I wouldn't mind paying £80 a year if I could always find a parking space

All the oil money and all those millionaires, means it's the most expensive place to live in Scotland.

The seagulls - they're fecking enormous and slightly scary

Birmingham

Good points

erm... probably need some help with this one

Newcastle

Good:
Ant and Dec
Shopping both in the town centre and at the nearby MetroCentre (the largest indoor shopping centre in Europe!)
Nightlife - sooooo many bars to choose from!
Good Universities
Fairly good transport links
The quey side - the Baltic, the sage, the millennium bridge etc
Friendly people
The great north run (taking place tomorrow :))
Close to the coast
Good hospitals

Bad:
Quite a high unemployment rate
Geordie shore (most of us are not like that!)
We're right next to Sunderland :haha:
There's not a whole lot to do here
We have a bad reputation
Quite a lot of charvers knocking about

Writing this has made me realise what a good city I live in

Uck, I'm getting jealous.

I live in a town called Huyton, just outside Liverpool. It's generally classed as Liverpool but it's half an hour away by bus and we don't have purple bins

Good bits
My family live here (the reason I moved back)
Steven Gerrard is from here (not that I give a crap but people love him)
The street I live on is nice
Good bus links to Liverpool
It's supposedly getting better

Bad bits
Has a violent reputation
Been in the news in recent years for prolific racist and homophobic murders :nope:
Nothing to do here for kids, at all. Even the parks are just not nice, it's potluck whether even the swings will still be there when you go and some idiot hasn't stolen them. Every so often they're replaced and last about a week before they go again.
Friends won't visit because they don't like the area
All the secondary schools in this part shut down and merged into one mega school - so basically if that's shite you have no other option close by
So small, everyone knows everyone elses' business
Too many people I don't like
Everything is getting cut back or shut down. The only primary school I liked for Lucas has shut down, the library used to be ace but now there's barely a library left, the only soft play shut down (though tbf, it was disgusting and I wouldn't have taken Lucas there).

Yeah... if it wasn't for my family I'd leave Huyton :haha:

I'm from Glasgow and I love it:thumbup:

Good Points

The banter/patter
Lots to do with museums, parks, concert halls
Great shopping
Great eating
The beautiful lochs and mountains of Scotland are on your doorstep
Commonwealth games coming 2014

Bad Points

Sectarianism
Lots of social deprivation
Knife crime
The weather

There's probably lots more unde both!
