So I know the ultimately it comes down to DH and I with our final choice, but because we are keeping the name a secret until our little lady is here I'd like some feedback on our choices.

We have a daughter called Isla Anne and the two options for her sister are:

Seren Marie Or
Alana Marie

marie is my middle name (though I haven't convinced Dh yet). Seren is A welsh/Cornish name meaning Star. I am just a little worried about it as I live in New Zealand and the kiwis will pronounce is Sirin.

If you have any thoughts or perhaps other suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Alana Marie is beautiful and goes well with your daughter's name.

Alana is a bit too common for my liking but it's not a bad name. How is Seren pronounced? I like Serena.

I think Isla is a beautiful name and Alana seems a bit plain next to it imo.

I can see the struggle with the pronounciation of Seren but I think it has the same cool vibe as Isla, so I'd go with Seren!

Seren is a beautiful name I absolutely love it. Very pretty but not too common

I like the idea of Seren a lot, it looks beautiful written and spelled out, has a nice meaning and it's an unusual name without seeming too out there. However, I'm not too sure how to pronounce it. I'm pronouncing it like the word Serenity without "ity" in my head, but that might be way off.

Either way, I'm sure if we hear it once, we know it and we're good to go! :)

I would pick Seren (I assume it's pronounced Seer-in) because Alana sounds to matchy-matchy to Isla.

I've always pronounced it like Sarah but with -en instead of -ah. Rhymes with Karen. I could be wrong though, I've never actually known anyone with the name.

I love Seren! I'm a New Zealander and do not say it like 'Sirin', I say the first part like the Sa in Sarah.

The correct pronunciation is seh-ren just like serenity without the ity

It's such a gorgeous name and matches Isla beautifully xx

I think Alana is a bit common/chavvy but that might be just me x

Well lots of votes for Seren (yes just like Serenity with out the -ity).
Seen is my favourite and Alana is Dhs favourite. I've never known anyone with the name Seren (apart from Seren Serengali).
I think I'm going to have to wall around saying the names out loud.

Thanks for your input.

I vote for Seren- though we live close to Wales, so it's not as uncommon here and would be pronounced correctly.

Seren is one of my faves but dh doesn't like it (so disappointed!)
