Hi everyone,

I had a D&C almost 5 weeks ago for a missed miscarriage when I was around 9 weeks pregnant.

My AF finally came this weekend, but I'm not sure which to count as the first day? It started with moderate brown bleeding on the first day, as much as a normal AF, and the second day heavy red bleeding.

TMI alert : it's also a bit weird, I've been having clots and stringy, stretchy bits but I suppose that's to be expected if there's a big clearout happening.

Also, how long would you wait to try again? My OB/Gyn advised me to wait till January to TTC again to give me time to recover emotionally but said there’s no medical reason not to try after my first AF (so ovulation will be in December). I’m SO tempted to try straight away, because what are the chances I’ll fall pregnant the first time anyway… but also terrified that if I do fall pregnant, I’ll miscarry again and it will be because I didn’t wait that extra month for my body to recover.

Thanks for your help, and babydust to all of you :)

I haven't made it to my af yet, but I can tell you that there's no medical reason to wait to ttc. (Unless maybe your uterus was scraped badly by the surgery and needed to repair itself. But in that case, you'd think a pregnancy wouldn't get started at all. ) My miscarriage was at 13 weeks, 6 weeks ago, and my doctor told me I didn't have to wait to try at all (just until my hcg is down).

Still I know it is hard not to worry. :) I hope you get your bfp your first cycle trying again!

Thank you tcinks! I'm still wavering over what to do, I might just NTNP the first month and get serious from January. I'm been Googling and it seems it can go either way... Some women fall pregnant quickly and carry to term, some fall pregnant the first month and miscarry again, and yet others take months to fall pregnant again.
