Maggie hardly drinks any of her formula and is always constipated im thinking of changing the formula she is on Aptimal Follow on.

Please can you tell me what your baby drinks and why you chose it.. and i know this sounds odd but if you've tried it does it taste nice?? sweet or not so nice that kind of thing? Ive heard Hipp Organic is sweet

Its so hard to choose which one to try her out on?

we use aptamil because the midwife recommended it for combined feeding.

my LO is on aptimil aswell as the neonatal care unit recommended it as i was combination feeding at the time. never had problems

we use cow and gate comfort. Cow and gate because we researched and that was the one we chose and comfort because he has always had trouble with constipation. It tastes bitter compared to stage 1milk but he doesnt seem to mind x

we're also using aptamil, because it has great reviews and lo takes it really well :flower:

Omar was on Aptamil AR for his reflux but we switched to Aptamil follow on (mixed with some AR) at 7.5 months as he was off his milk & he liked it much more than his old formula. We tried several formulas when he was tiny, & Aptamil was the best for him.

Sounds like your boy and my little girl have had a similar time just going my previous threads you've repllied too etc. Did you find it stressfull weaning him? now he's older can you relax more about him getting the right amounts of nutrients now milk isnt is main source?

ps. are you in dubai?

I stay in Sharjah, close to Dubai :)

We started proper weaning at 6.5 months, he wasnt picky but didnt eat much. We didnt puree, we spoon fed him real food only, fork mashed at 1st, then without mashing at 7 months. He was on 3 meals & 3 bottles (between 15-18 oz) at 8 months with no snacks. He goes through phases of refusing to eat esp when he's teething. He will eat cheese sticks or yoghurt all day if I let him. He doesnt like to eat in general (he's been skipping breakfast for the past few days). He loves green veggies, & limited types of fruit & he likes lamb meat & fish, So I always cook what he likes. Some days he eats & snacks all day, other days (like today), he doesnt eat anything other than yoghurts & few bites from what I'm eating.

I dont stress myself anymore, he will eat & ask for food when he's hungry. He's talking now, he says nanna for food, & he runs towards the fridge when he's hungry. If he's not in a mood to eat, he fakes gags & refuses to sit in his highchair & I dont force him.

He didnt add any weight since he was 10 minths, but he's growing taller. His Dr. was never bothered as he's a big baby & his development is not affected.

We use HiPP Organic. We used Cow and Gate in hospital, supplementing BF, but switched to HiPP once I couldn't continue with BF. No reason other than it's organic really but Ellie has been fine with it (no colic or anything) and I don't mind the taste. It's quite sweet when warmed.

I started both of mine on C&G (no problems for Harriet :)) but for Max it made him ill, switched to aptimil and still had problems, He is now on Nutramigen (prescribed by the Dr) because it turns out he has a milk protein allergy.

Cant fault C&G though, his weight gain (and Harriets) was perfect when he was on that even though he was puking and makin him poorly :( . This nutramigen has slowed him down a lot but hes healthy so its fine :D x

Aptamil Comfort, my Lo had so many probs on Aptamil first milk after a few weeks, the comfort has really helped her digestion, she definately needed milk that was further broken down, we knew this because she suffered with terrible cramps, horrendous wind and constipation, she cried constantly and used to yelp in pain before passing wind, her tummy also made very loud noises. This is hugely improved with comfort milk although not completely resolved, we are going back to the doctors on Tuesday to talk about her reflux drugs and maybe trying milks that are even easier digested than the comfort x

we use SMA Staydown for reflux but before that SMA was always my first choice.
Cow and Gate bought LO out in a rash and I never went for the Aptimal as it is made by C&G (so was concerned that the rash ingredient could be in both) and it is so much more £.
IF I were to have another I would give HIPP a try, read lots of good about it and recycling a box rather than a tin seems more friendly on the planet.
The Staydown tastes fab - really creamy and quite sweet.
The cow and gate was revolting!

DD is on EleCare. DD was having horrible bloody poops, head to toe eczema, wheezing etc. The official diagnoses is Intestinal Malabsorbtion.

* I put LO on Aptamil stage 1 milk first. I put her on it because I heard it was the closest to breastmilk, and I had originally planned to combi-feed (half breast, half bottle). I lost my milk, so she ended up being 100% formula fed when she was 1 month old.
* We took her off Aptamil when she was colicky, and we tried her on Cow & Gate stage 1, but nothing changed.
* We then tried Cow & Gate Comfort, which seemed to help, but we also changed her bottles, so not really sure if it was the milk that helped most, or the bottles
* She was then moved onto Nutramigen Stage 1 when they thought she had a lactose intolerance.
* Turns out she didn't, so we came off Nutramigen and went onto Aptamil stage 3 milk (when she was 7 months old).
* She's not been putting weight on properly though, so this week we have put her on Infatrini, which is a high calorie formula. She will be on that just until she puts on a little more weight and climbs her centiles again, and then we will put her back on Aptamil stage 3.

Yep, we have lots of experience in formula :haha: I personally think the Infatrini tastes great; just like regular milk. The Nutramigen "tastes like death" according to my OH, and I would tend to agree; it's really bitter and leaves a stink in the bottles. The Aptamil s1 and Cow & Gate s1 were also nice tasting. Comfort milk I didn't like much. My LO though, was happy drinking all of them; I don't think she's too fussy

Maggie has also been on many milks mainly on Neocate which is similar to Nutragimen and yes it does taste like death which is why i think she has a fobia of the bottle. My friends baby is on Infantrini and yes it tastes delicious!! Do you have to get it via prescription???

Maggie only drinks about 10ozs a day so could do with a high calorie formula.
