me and my boyfriend both have hyphenated last names...so what do we give the kids?

My name: Alexis Ayane-Farrar
His name: Francis Johnson-Ferris

and we both use our full last names. perhaps we would have to shorten them..right? We've been thinking about that along with names for the triplets. help! :)

 what a dilemma!! I'm sorry I'm not trying to make you feel bad but this is just another reason I won't hyphenate my child's last name!

Maybe just give them YOUR hyphenated last name until you get married (if that's the plan)?

yeah, i probably should...and we're not doing so well together, i'm not sure how much longer it will be. i might just give them 'Farrar' to be more simple. or maybe. idk! :)
but thanks!

hey babes, i think if your not getting on so well, i would just use your name. if nescesary just tell him its only until you two get married! xx gudluck xx

I must confess this is why I don't like hyphenated last names for kids either. What's the next generation to do?

My understanding is from my grandparents' generation and earlier, the woman's maiden name was the middle name of the child. I plan on doing the same, though it will only be one of two middle names because I want to offer my kids their own unique middle name as well.

You'll just have to pick one that feels right for you?

would it be possible to use one of each or your last names and hyphenate them together??
like Ayane-Ferris or Johnson-Farrar or Ayane-Johnson or something like that....
might sound kinda crazy, but hey, it's compromise that uses both..
don't know if you can do it, but that's my idea anyway :)

I'm kind of along the same lines,

my last name is hyphenated and my ex's isn't and because my last name is long he wants the babys surname to be his, but i'm kind of iffy about it. We've only just started talking again, hes coming to my next ultrasound, but I guess i have quite a while to decide.

But as for you i'd say have one of your last names and one of him.

You might start a big family brawl though ahahaha.

Hope i was of any help =]

 Such confusion!

Maybe give them only one from each of your last names?
Ayane-Ferris or Ayane-Johnson or Farrar-Johnston and combine it a bit?
