Hi we are looking for a crib toy for our son (due soon!) which makes white noise or similar to soothe baby. With my first child we recorded wave noise onto a computer but the battery kept dying overnight. We then got ewan the dream sheep which was ok but my daughter is still using that and one with a recording device would be better I think and a volume control. Anyone tried the prince lionheart, cloud b or gro hush devices or have any other suggestions?

Also if you have the prince lionheart slumber bear which model is it (normal or premium). I know they had some battery issues they gave apparently resolved

I have no answers but am stalking cos at the moment we just use YouTube white noise videos but my OH wants his ipad back :haha:

We had a prince lionheart but it didn't play your recording on loop so it just played as long as you recorded and then reverted to something else. Maybe they've changed that now though, as it was when dd was a baby. Maybe you could just get a white noise cd or app. You can also get white noise off youtube!

The computer just kept running out of batteries and shutting down when we used that as my daughter wanted the noise continuously.

Yeah I'd rather get an actual decide that plays it constantly but runs off batteries cos I'm in the same boat in that OH wants his ipad back and the only other device we've got that we could play YouTube videos on doesn't hold battery long enough and I don't like leaving plugs in all night.. :/ Also we often get playback errors on YouTube, so it'll just turn off for no reason..

I loved the prince lionheart slumber bear. Ours played the white noise, waves, songs or womb noises for 5 mins, then stopped, but it would restart if it detected movement.

We have a Cloud B Giraffe that has the white noise, a jungle beat, womb sounds, and i think crickets/bird noises (its been a while since we used it for her) for the first few weeks the white noise worked wonders for helping to get her settled to sleep....i think they are kinda pricey (like 24.99ish USD) but we found one second hand and it was in perfect condition...it has a volume control, and different "length" settings, max is like 45 mins...loved that thing...now she just falls asleep to whatever is going on, one of her first experiences out of the house when she was a baby was my nephew's high school graduation...she slept through most of the clapping, hooting and cheering  so she could probably sleep through the zombie apocalypse, just like her mommy :haha::blush:

My son has a tablet in his room with a white noise app that plays continuously

Ewan the dream sheep was a life saver!

We have the summer infant slumber buddy, Eddie The elephant and my son loves it.

It plays a water sound, heartbeat, or 3 other music lullabies. It projects stars on the ceiling in either red, blue, green or a cycle through them. Plays for 45 mins. Not sure what the other buddies are like except the frog has a very 'tinny' sound, not as nice a sound as Eddie. My lo goes into his room at night saying 'stars, stars' it really soothes him especially as he's not a fan of the dark either.

I just use a dohm white noise machine for Alex. Did use a Ewan dream sheep when he was newborn, but when it stopped he woke up - plus it didn't block out the racket that Louis made.

Still undecided which to choose. I may wait till he arrives then test him with my daughter's ewan the dream sheep (sneak it out of her room while she is asleep)!. Can anyone recommend a white noise app which is free? Always a bit nervous about downloading these things in case of viruses etc

Do you have an iPod? I have a sleep sounds app on mine and I stick it on airplane mode to save the battery p, it will happily play for 2/3 nights on one charge. I just leave it in LOs room all night with the volume turned way down.

Thanks all. I got a second hand slumber bear premium today for a good price so am going to see how we get on with him :)
