Who has moved from b/f to f/f & why?

hia hun, my reasons for stopping were simply because me and oh were arguing alot and i think that because i was doing everything, (he cant cook, clean or iron etc) i was starting to resent him, at least now he can help by making a bottle and giving it to her meaning if hes home i can have a bath or make tea etc without hearing her cry and then having to stop everything. also im a very shy person meaning that whenever lo needed feeding it was very hard if i was out, when around my friends etc it was fine but when around my brothers, and oh friends everyone felt awkward. the first 6 weeks of bf were amazing though (even if they were difficult) and im very glad i managed for that long, if things had been different between me and oh then i may well have carried on but i am very happy with my decision to stop as katie hasnt suffered from my decision. i find that by setting the ground rules my parents feel abit pushed out but she's my daughter and if i still bf then they wouldnt feed her anyway  xx

I had many issues such as infection in left nipple, milk never came in (didn't realise at the time) and the ultimate one, I had to be seperated from LO at 5 days old when I was readmitted into ICU. We haven't looked back as LO was also sick and losing too much weight and the consultant told us what we had to do. I'll be honest, I feel more guilty about the fact my LO was starving and I didn't 'know' and I'm her mum.

It's a big decision for someone who BF's but you have to do what you feel comfortable with. I'm a strong believer in happy mum, happy baby with anything.

Thankyou great ladies for your replies :flower:

The pain in my left breast will not go...I keep getting little lumps (which I assume are blocked ducts) the only thing that has got better is the engorgement

I think im gonna do some research on dropping feeds ~ to eventually move to f/f....These pains are getting me down & I want to enjoy my new baby & not be snappy at my DH & 2 Sons :hugs:

had too, because there wasn enough supply and Lo kept crying coz of hunger. once i introduced FF gradually she started giving up on BF, and now at 4 months she is practically on FF alone

Is it both breasts? frequent feeding will clear it and is the best thing u can do to prevent mastitis.

Try offering the lumpy breast first for two feeds in a row. You can try different positions also.

Massage with the same technique u use for self breast examiination

Try and rest

I hope things work out for u whatever u decide. I know how hard i have found BF, but its thankfully getting better all the time now.

Best of luck x

I moved after 2 weeks because Lily was such a hungry baby and I just couldnt keep up with her and I think my milk hadnt come in properly cos she'd been in specail care baby unit for a few days and missed some feeds, and it was just making me depressed.. we was both much happier when we swapped :) x

Just back from an 'emergency' doctors appointment, I am suffering from mastitus in one breast & have anti-biotics

I also have a small infection in my csection scar, so she hopes they will clear both things up...hopefully :flower:

i use ff at night due to supply not meeting her demands, she would cry in the eve due to wind and reflux but also hunger and although she is putting on weight and I seem to have plenty of milk, she would snack and soothe herself. Tried bottle which she occasional had from day one when i wasnt coping and tired.
Now she has her last two eve feeds of bottle of loves it, she is more settled and sleeps better.
Dont feel bad, ppl make you feel that way and its wrong.
Each to their own.
