Hello Mummies to be

There's a thread in 2nd tri asking who people are having at the labour... obviously most people replied that they would be having their OHs. As we are all single I wondered what you will be doing??

Me, I'm having my best friend with me who is soooooooo unbelievably excited! I told her about the ante natal classes the other day and she said she couldn't wait hehe :haha:

I did want my mum there too...but she doesn't want to see me in so much pain!! So she's gonna be outside and I'll get her in the room as soon as I can after baby "pops" out.

So who will you girls have with you?

hey my mum was with me and she was fantastic, so supportive, which is what i needed at that time. trying to think of how i can thank her for all the support she has given me the last few months. thats great that your friend will be with you x

I'm gonna have mum there! Don't think I could do it without her

im having my mum and my closest cousin...couldnt do it without them

xxx

im having my mum and friend, and possibly another friend. they will take turns 1 at a time as your only allowed 1 in the room.

I have no idea at this moment :( Cant imagine anyone other than FOB there to be honest. Thinking on havin a home birth just to save face on the ward havin no man there

I'll too be calling on mum. I know she'll be good support and theres no1 else i would want to really see me like that.

I have no Mum.... I think I'm gonna have to go it alone... do you have to have a birth partner, can you not just get on with it without anyone?

You can do it alone if you want to, I know people who have done this, and I think this is just what some people prefer. But what about asking a good friend or another family member? In any case the midwives are usually very supportive and should stay with you the entire time - but maybe it's worth discussing this just to be 100% certain that this is the case.

In my case I've only got my mum, as all my other family members live too far away - but if she can't get time off from work and I have no one else to look after my son, I'll have to do it alone.

Well i still plan on having the FOB there with me! We still get on ok. Also my mum is going to be there as i'm allowed two people.

If for any reason FOB can't make it then my eldest sister is going to take his place.

I'm okay on my own I guess... you said other people manage without anyone, and it sounds like you also havea LO to worry about anyway, I hope things work out and your Mum can make it :), I'ms ure she will, I bet she'd be gutted if she couldn't be there for you when you need her :)

I don't have any really close friends I'd be comfortable to ask and no family sadly, but I'msure I won't be the only one in this boat :) I'll worry when I have to in 30 weeks time hehe!

My mum and best friend, I dont particularily want my mum there, but i know she wants too be, and after helping me out so much i would never dream of telling her i didnt want her there lol

My bestie cant wait to meet her, but she said to my belly the other day not too come on xmas day or the middle of the night, was really cute lol

Woadie - you will be fine on your own :hugs: the midwives seem really nice! Or you can hire a Doula - they are professional birth partners.

Lou_w34 - My best mate usually has a glass of wine every night...but she isn't gonna be able to do that around my due date cos she has to drive me to the hospital hehe!! But she did volunteer for this when FOB left :) unluckily for her my baby is due on New Years Day!!!! :dohh: So she also told baby not to come while she's halfway through her christmas dinner!!

xx

"my" FOB will be my birthing partner unfortunately as I have no-one else... I imagine it's highly likely that I will not want him anywhere near me when the time comes though. Thinking I may grow my nails back in time so that I can really hurt him! ha ha! christ I am angry today! lol

I'm angry today too! :growlmad:

You're brave....I would rather have no one there than FOB...if I didn't have anyone to come with me I'd look into hiring a doula. Or just going it alone with the midwives. BUT....in saying that, its a good idea to inflict pain on him if he is going to be there!!!

I was looking for a birth doula but couldn't find one local and not sure I could afford it anyway! I don't want to go it alone but no choice so will just have to hope the staff are all in good moods!!

I'm having my mum and my best friend with me! Both are excited about it. I'm so glad I have them there - they've given me so much support over the last few months xx
