Hmmm, usually because I'm bored.
I like reading the debates (as long as people don't get too emotionally wrapped up in them) and people that push your views on things. I also love the info that you learn that you would never find on information sites (you know, all the little things they seem to forget to mention).
Oh, and most of the people are very nice and supportive. Makes for a great online community.
