I just don't understand how people can be so tactless about names. I dunno about you girls but i'm emotional enough during pregnancy and having someone attack a name that i planned on naming my child for their entire life, HURTS!
cbbrankley - My cousin is named Shelby and i definitly remember a few people didn't think much of it when she was born even though i was a child at the time. But now it's such a lovely name!! I always try and tell hubby to imagine a little girl with names when he's being difficult. Like the name pearl which he thinks is for old women. I said imagine a little girl running around with a dress on as you call her Pearl. It's very precious. But alas he still hates it. He's always saying with some boy names "A man could never have that name!" lol which i guess is something you need to consider but i always figure when men grow up with names it's never weird. It's not like they're born at the age of 50 (benjamin button is the exception)
lol at the benjamin button line. I don't even know why I didn't like the name now. I think it's a cute name now that I'm older (she's 4 now) I've always loved the name Hayley and wanted to use it if I ever have a little girl, but now I don't really like it for an adult, I only look at it as a little girl having the name. I never really thought about people being so attached to the names picked until I started ttcing, I've always liked picking out baby names as a hobby. I never was like really rude about a name, I usually said something like I'm not crazy about it, except for my brother in which I said why are u usung that name, u should change it. But I'm glad he didn't listen lol Usually if I tell someone I'm not crazy about it I also tell them, that's my opinion but it's not my baby, it's ur choice what u name the baby. When my friends n family get pregnant though I try to give them ideas based on the type of name they already have though.
