Why do the fathers never agree with us on names?!

Hello,
well the other day, my boyfriend and i were talking about possible baby names, maybe too early, but we're getting really excited!!
And every single name i said, he was like no wayyy!! and i was the same about the one's he said.. i don't think we're ever going to agree... and then same problem with surnamee :/
anyone else have this situation? how do i get round it?
at least we 100% agree on middle names, because if it's a girl it has my mother's first name and if it's a boy it has my brothers.

We started talking about names in august and only now do we have one or two names we both agree on, keep trying!!

Most of the time when he suggests a name, I'm like: "... It's kind of nice but I can't imagine calling my child like this..." Surname wise it's not so difficult: I hate my surname and his is ok. One day we'll get married and then we will all have the same surname.

Hubby and I are like that...everything I like he hates...but then one day he actually liked 2 names! (one is a boy's name and one a girl). So, I think we have a start lol

I know what you mean, He kept on coming away with names that i just cannot stand and vice versa its taken us 6 months to come to a few we both like. Rosalie and scarlett being the main 2 and really it came down to trying to get him to see my way of thinking rather than me compromising

we agreed right from the start on a girl's name, poppy is both our faves. as for boys though... my oh didnt like ANY i suggested! i had my heart totally set on miles but he HATED it!! just as well we are having a girl...

Lol my Dh is really annoying he will agree 100% on a name then talk to people at work and come home and deny he ever liked the name lol! rahh! xxx

Me and OH chose a name about 2 months ago, and both loved it. BUT me being awkward... i really really dont like it anymore!! I know he still does though..

We've agreed on a boys name, but we're at polar opposites on what makes a nice girls name. I'm just gonna carry on picking away at him until he agrees with me!

before we found out the sex of baby bump, my husband and i spent ages in the bath one night, not our chosen place for disscussion may i add, we just happened to be there when we aproached the subject! lol, but we went from a - z of boy and girl names shouting them out each and ones i liked he didnt and ones he liked i didnt!.

I don't think me and him are ever going to agree. About a month ago I suggested a girls name and he said he liked it. Woopee, I thought but then I asked him again last night and he flatly denied ever liking it!

We both like a couple of boys names so I am cautiously optimistic...

I bet it's a girl...

Then he went on to suggest one of our cat's names.

Grr my DH tells me last night that one of our final name choices is a definate no no, despite me re-checking with him last week!! . He's decided that Madeleine is a definate NO as a first name, but if I want to use it as a middle name then I can (as its my nans name). I also know that hes not too keen on Phoebe, but he hasnt vetoed that one YET! I cant really say too much because ive vetoed a lot of names hes chosen too. Names he likes are very different to the type of names I like, Im beginning to wonder if we will ever agree . I just want to give our bubs a name . xx

Me and my boyfriend didnt agree on names and the more we spoke about it the more we narrowed it down to 2 for boy n 2 for girl. I also believe that the baby should have the fathers surname if he is involved with the child, if he has nothing to do with the baby then the mothers surname should be used.

Me and my oh are TERRIBLE at agreeing. The ones we do agree on are never my faves! But he hates my faves and i hate most the names he comes up with lol xo
