Why has 11 month old turned into a little monster???

Lo has always eaten v.well he was ebf from birth and still has two feeds a day. When I weaned him he just had what we had as long as it wasnt too salty etc and we have had no problems. Now all of a sudden he will not eat anything other than yoghurt - it feels like every mealtime has turned into a battle field and it is driving me nuts! I have tried pureeing everything to mush but unless it is a yoghurt he will not eat it. If perchance food does get into his mouth he will gag and be sick. I have just gone back to work but this started before then. Also he had a tummy bug about 10 days ago so wonder if that has anything to do with it. But surely he has to start eating normally again soon?you cant survive on yoghurt!any help would be hugely appreciated

Yes, my guess is it's related to him being sick and it might just take awhile for him to get back to eating normally. Babies tend to go off their usual food when sick and for a few weeks after, but it's also totally normal for them to go through phases when they'll only eat a couple things. My daughter had a month (actually around 10-11 months) when she was sick for about 4 weeks with bronchiolitis and would only eat fruit and yogurt. I just kept offering her a wide variety of food like I always would, but also making sure I knew she'd get things she would actually eat (fruit and yogurt) and just tried not to make a big deal out of it. One day everything just magically went back to normal and she was tucking into her food again and eating anything I'd offer. Just try to be patient, not get frustrated or try to make him eat, and continue to offer normal food (no purees if he's been used to finger foods), and wait it out. Once he feels 100% better again, which might still be a few weeks, he'll be back to eating regularly.
