I have now been off BC since the beginning of December and have had no ovulation or AF. I am currently on CD70 after my 5 day withdrawal bleed!

I was on Dianette and I have been reading all the horror stories about it. Before I took it, my cycles were 28-32 days regular, despite having PCOS.

Could Dianette have worsened my PCOS and I am now not ovulating? Or has it not come out of my system yet?

I have started taking Pregnacare conception (1 week ago) but no difference as yet.

I keep getting what I think is EWCM in a few days patch, but then it goes again without ovulation.

I am temping and charting CM/CP, and doing OPK's.

I have a dr's appointment booked for the 25th Feb if nothing happens in the meantime.

Please help - I'm going out of my mind.

I'm not sure what to suggest as I haven't been on that pill so I don't know how it works but wanted to wish you lots of luck and hope that someone has some answers for you soon xxx

I haven't been on that particular pill either, but I've read it can take a few months for women to ovulate after getting off the pill.

I had a long cycle when I stopped taking bcp but not this long. Occasionally the dr has to trigger ovulating after you've stopped taking bcp. My first real AF was very short and very weird after I stopped bcp but the Dr said it was totally normal. I now have regular cycles and normal AF . You might just need a little extra help getting your body back on track. :-)

It took me 10 months off BC to have a cycle under 40 days. They tended to be around 50-70 for a looooong time.

Just wanted to say I feel your pain :( CD30 here, my first cycle off the pill and no sign of ovulation. It's super frustrating.

Thank you all, for not reading and running!

Getting very frustrated by it but trying to be patient!

I was on Yasmin and it took me 10 months for my cycles to return to normal. My first normal cycle was the one I fell pregnant on so don't give up hope yet.

I know exactly how you feel I once had 110 day cycle after an early miscarriage. My cycles were regular before that...it was so frusturating. The doctor prescribed me progesterone to "jump start" a new cycle. I got AF soon after taking it. But they have been irregular since due to PCOS. You should see a doctor maybe they will prescribe you something. I have heard it can take 6 months to a year for your body to go back to normal after taking BC. Its possible to that your PCOS got worse too, not necessarily from the pill, but just from getting older/lifestyle/diet/hormone changes ect. How long were u on the pill for?

Glad you've got an appointment set, from all the reading I did, some forms of bc could take 3 months or more to get out of your system. Hopefully going in will help figure out if it has anything to do with pcos, or if it's just your body trying to readjust. Hoping to doc will give you something to get things moving along!

Andi, only 8 months! Before that I had a merina coil, but had 3 months of very regular periods between the two contraceptive methods. I am hoping/wishing/praying that this lack of ovulation is due to the pill coming out of my system and not because my PCOS has got worse.

Yeah hopefully that's the case for you. PCOS is confusing. I was on the pill for 11 years when I went off the pill I had regular cycles for my first 6 cycles 28-30 day cycles. Then I had a miscarriage and ended up with a 110 day cycle which is when I found out I had PCOS. I didn't really understand why my cycles were normal before that...maybe the pill was still in my symptom? Since then I've had 36-45 day cycles. This one looks like it's going to be shorter but I'm taking Femara.

I came off the pill in October and it has also been very frustrating for me! My first cycle lasted 49 days and then the second cycle was even longer at 63 days. I'm currently on my third and cycle day 14. My experience has made me not want to go back on the pill again. Hopefully yours will sort itself out but ive been told that it can take a while to sort itself out.

yeah I really don't think I'll go back on the pill either. Unless I for sure don't want anymore kids. It was fine being on it, just coming off of it has been terrible. One thing I do miss from the pill is my skin was so much more clearer when I was on it.

I heard drinking raspberry leaf tea can help bring on a period. I haven't tried it tho and I don't have PCOS but I have read that it has worked for some ladies. I hope this helps in some way, good luck:)

I never want to go back on the pill either!

Little update - I went to the dr's yesterday for something unrelated (nerve pain in my leg) and thought, sod it, I will push for some help with my absent periods.

He told me it is unlikely to be do with coming off Dianette, and more to do with having PCOS.

In one way I am gutted, because I had regular periods before the pill, and I was so desperately hoping that I would just be 'normal'.

He has prescribed me 750mg of Metformin per day... so I am just waiting to see what happens. I also bought some Vitex (Agnus Castus) 1000mg tablets on the internet last night.

I've been doing research and in terms of Metformin and Vitex, some people say they work straight away, some people say they don't work at all!

So watch this space!!

wtbam - sorry to hear that the doc thinks its your pcos. I've heard of a lot of people just being out of sorts with their periods for the first 3-4 months. Myself, I had a 14 day cycle for 4 months in a row...every two weeks I was getting my period, so it was impossible to get pregnant. I feel for you. Is the doc willing to help with the pcos? there's gotta be something he can do to help, meds of some kind...What do metformin and vitex do?

Well from the limited research I have done today, Metformin regulates the insulin in your body. The insulin (and incorrect levels of it) affects your reproductive hormones, and insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome (?) is common in PCOS.
I have seen many people posting that within 14 days of starting Metformin they have had a period/ovulation, and others who say it did nothing.

I don't know if I have issues with my insulin levels so watch this space on this one. I posted on a separate post about it as to whether metformin can help if you don't have issues with insulin, but no answers as yet.

Vitex (Agnus Castus), from the research I have done, appears to be a 'miracle herb' for people with issues with their cycles, and a nightmare for people with normal cycles but other issues.
From what I can see, it stimulates the glands that produce reproductive hormones, and possibly increases progesterone and LH.

Some people with PCOS have high LH levels and can't use OPK's as they get lots of false positives. I know this is not the case with me. I have been doing OPK's for 2 months now and haven't had a single positive!

Hopefully the Vitex will arrive in the next few days. I have now taken 2 doses of the Metformin. I am really looking forward to the Vitex. There are soooo many success stories of using it on the forum - I have been massively stalking people's threads and lots have BFP's now!!!
