Its really starting to upset me (and more importantly her) that River has had nappy rash pretty much solid for the last month and at times it has been soooo sore.

Ive tried everything i really have, every cream and teas and leaving her nappy off but its not going

I know the doctor will just give us metanium which seems to make her scream even more :(

She had diarea about a month ago but it got better but now she is doing these dirty farts every 30 minutes so her bum gets changed alot!

I just dont know what to do :( My HV is useless which is just great

could she need antibiotics?

I'd go to the Dr if it's not shifting. Ruby is pretty sore atm, she always is when she teething and she is constantly at the moment (molars and canines are the worst).

Anyway we have started putting a thick layer of vaseline on her bum so the poo / wee makes less contact with her skin and allows it to heal.

it doesnt have any white bits.

Ill take a picture when she wakes up from her nap.

Its getting to the point of bleeding today :(

:cry:ah im so crap. i should have taken her to the doctors before now

oh darling :hugs: don't beat yourself up, it's hard to no what to do with them. maddi had something similar around river's age, does sound like thrush, take her back for a second opinion :hugs:
i ended up taking maddi to the out of hours one, as i thought it wasn't nappy rash, and didn't take her in the week, i felt awful, but it's just one of though things :hugs:
in the mean time, after ever change, dry her bum off with a flannel etc and pop some sudocreme or Bepanthen (i swear by the stuff) xxx

i just googled thrush in babies and it looks so similiar to Rivers bum

im such a twat i should have just taken her to the doctors ages ago rather then just thinking oh its teething.

:hugs: sweetie, it's not your fault, it's so hard to tell, teething and thrush all look the same :hugs: xxx

just rang the doctor they said because i have moved they wont see me but my nearest doctor will. I told her they wont as it takes 3 days to register and she said well they should see a baby.

surely so should they!! :(

Will have to go into the walk in centre as she is crying in pain alot :(

You're not a twat. It couldn't be helped. Mairi had stonking nappy rash for quite a while there, the chemist gave us Canestan, but it never did any good. When we saw the GP, she was lovely and told us not to feel so bad. We were prescribed a course of Canestan HC (hydrocortisone) which cleared it up within days. I felt awful about using a steroid, but really, it was the only way to fix it and it was worth it. If you use cloth, and you don't mind sposies, keep her in sposies for a few days, do a hot strip wash on the cloth and wait until her bum clears up using Bepanthen in between changes. Good luck :hugs: xxx

spoke to a HV she said there is a health clinic in town which is new so no one knows about it yet so hopefully wont be to long a wait.

I cant help but feel bad. I should have sorted this out before.

What treatment do they use for thrush? just cream?

She gets a rash around her mouth sometimes (well alot) which goes when i pt eurex on it. Ive just read that thrush can travel from the mouth. If her mouth turns out to be thrush to i may just burst into tears :(

It's defnitely not your fault. I've had mine with bad nappy rash twice and the first time it was a fungal infection and the second it was gastroenteritis and I being an idiot was putting anti-fungal cream on the nappy rash. SO at least you're not me.

The second time was AWFUL. She would scream any time she peed or pooped and I couldn't touch it, pass water over it or ANYTHING without her crying in agony. And me, idiot was putting the wrong cream on it because it looked the same to me. ](*,) And although I REALLY didn't want to put anything too chemical on it, after trying everything else (including herbal and homeopathic creams) metanium was a life saver. My doctor didn't give it to me because her baby had a chemical burn from it so it's obviously a little harsh for some but for us it was amazing. Only thing that kept a barrier on her skin and kept all her excretions away without slipping off.

Best of luck and it shodul clear up pretty soon with a prescription. :hugs:

If it has spread to her mouth, don't worry (easier said than done). They'd probably give a course of Nystan (oral solution that smells like marzipan) and it'll clear up fairly quickly. Lots of babies get oral thrush because the mouth is a lovely warm moist area, perfect for breeding yucky fungus. For a so-called 'minor ailment', Thrush causes so much misery. I really hope River starts feeling more like herself soon. Another wee tip to soothe her bum is to try a bit of Bicarb of Soda and no soap in her bath. Good luck xxx

thats her bum it still has loads of sudocrem on it as she screams if i try and wipe it odd. Its much rawer looking then that.

It looks similair to the thrush photos :(

The bloody health clinic was to busy so they couldn't see us. Have got a appointment for tomorrow though.

In the mean time we have got some of that natural live yogurt to give to her and to put on her bum and she is having a very very garlicy spag bowl which will hopefully help even if its just a little
