Why so shocked???

Went to see doc the other day for a blood test and i mentioned that i'm still waiting for a period after having Gem.
She asked if i'd stopped bf yet and i said no, she then said i assume you are gonna stop now shes one though surely... i said no, i'll wait for Gem to kind of show me shes had enough.

And she stared at me as if i'd said i was gonna bf until she left home.

Its not that shocking surely.

It annoys me when people are so ignorant to extended breastfeeding.

I bf my dd2 till she was 20 months and my doc was lovely about it... But then she was still bf'ing her 3.5 year old!

Honestly....it doesn't surprise me that a doctor reacted in that way. Its a shame, but there is a massive ignorance about extended breastfeeding and that doesn't exclude doctors/midwives/HV's etc unfortunately

Thank you, I don't see the problem with it. My HV and the nursery nurse are really supportive.. So the doc reacting like that threw me a bit.
