This is my 1st month temping, so i'm not 100% sure how long my luteal phase is. I think it was 13 days before I had my son. I think i'm due AF tomorrow, as i'm 13dpo today & am crampy with backache, so am pretty sure she is just around the corner. Does your luteal phase stay the same every single cycle?? I'm not sure how long mine is, & I guess I won't know for sure until I get AF. What's the average luteal phase? Thanks for any help girls

Ok, i've found out that the average luteal phase is 14 days. So does that mean i'll get my period 14 or 15dpo?? Please answer girls, im a little confused

lp is different from person to person. mine for example were 11 or 12 days long. the average is 14 but some people have 16 days.

According to Fertility Friend, i think it was there anyway. Everyone's LP tends to differ, however your own LP tends to be consistent.. I will search out the page i read it on!

Ovulation and the Cycle Phases
Ovulation is the event that defines the phases of the menstrual cycle. The phase before ovulation, when the ovarian follicles are developing, is called the follicular phase. The phase after ovulation is called the luteal phase. The length of the follicular phase may vary but the luteal phase length is generally constant from cycle to cycle for the same woman, lasting 10-16 days. When cycles are irregular, it is usually because ovulation occurred earlier or later than usual. Knowing when ovulation occurred allows you to see if intercourse was well-timed for conception and lets you determine your luteal phase length. Knowing your luteal phase length tells you when to expect your period or a positive pregnancy test result.

Ok thanks. I'm cramping now, so think she's on her way. Say my lutual phase is 14 days, will she come when i'm 14dpo or 15? My temps are still up at the moment, but am I right in thinking it will drop the day before or day of AF??

If your LP is usually 14 days then you'd expect AF on day 15. Your temperature would drop on either the day before, of or day after, depending on what time of day you take your temp and what time of day your AF arrives. My temp tends to drop after AF has arrived

Oh ok. AF usually comes overnight & I wake up with it. So i'll wait until monday to test if she hasn't arrived by then

Bugger that lol If my AF was due tomorrow and it didn't arrive i'd be testing tomorrow!

Well done to you if you have the will power to hold out that long lol

Really cramping, so i'm pretty sure she will arrive overnight. It's SO tempting to test, but I got a BFN at 14dpo when I was pregnant with my son, & didn't get a BFP until 17dpo. So i'm trying to hold out as long as poss, i'll keep an eye on what my temperature is doing too.
