Hi Ladies,

At my 20 week scan they told me that I had a low lying posterior placenta very slightly covering the os, I had to go back for a scan today to see if it had moved which it hasnt, I've to go back at 30 weeks to see if there is any difference and if not I will be scheduled for a c-section around 37 weeks, has anyone else had this and it move or something similar????

I have a low lying placenta too and have to go back at 36 weeks and if it hasnt moved i will be having a c-section at 37 weeks but my midwife says its quite a common thing and usually it moves up in time for bubs grand entrance x

My placenta is also currently low lying. The last doctor I saw said the placenta usually moves up as the uterus grows during the pregnancy.

When does it normally move up by? Was it too early for them to check today to see if it had moved? Worst case scenario I have a scheduled c-section which can happen anyway so not bothered about that, but they said it can cause bleeds and to go straight to obstetrics if that happens which kinda freaked me out, havent had any bleeds so far so will keep fingers crossed that I dont!!!

I had a bleed at 14 weeks, which is when they discovered my placenta was low lying. It was also the bottom of the placenta which was bleeding. I was told the same thing, any more bleeds then I need to return. I guess it's just because it's the baby's lifeline. Better be safe than sorry.

My placenta placement will be checked again at 20 weeks, I think they are hoping it will have moved up by then. If not I will be scanned again at 28 weeks I think to check it again.

At my last check up my doctor suspects I have a low lying placenta as well. I had slight slight spotting at 10 and 14 weeks. I am going for a more detailed scan on Tuesday. Did you girls feel your little one's kicks really early with your placentas being low like this? I am wondering if having this low lying placenta is why I have been able to feel my baby kick strong for the past week and a half or so..did you ladies experience the same thing? I love it!

mine is low too, have to go back at 36 weeks to check. I read in my book that this happens a lot, but it moves up almost all of the time as the uterus grows. So don't worry about it for now...
and yes, I felt baby move at 13 weeks, which I thought was crazy, but her feet are so low by my cervix i think thats why :)

I was told at 19 weeks that I have a complete previa. At 23 weeks it hadn't moved. I go back next week at 27+4 to recheck. My doctor told me that since it is a complete previa it probably will move. But will it move enough to allow a vag delivery they don't know. So if you have a partial previa your chances are better that it will move enough to allow for a vag delivery. Good luck!

I have a low lying 1 as well but from 18 weeks to 20 weeks it moved up 1/2 a cm so they are sure it will move up more.

9 out of 10 move up as the tummy grows

My placenta was also low at 20 weeks. I'm being rescanned at 32 weeks. My placenta was only 1cm in the way of the birth canal so the sonographer wasn't too bothered. He said its quite common at that stage & most will move x

I was told mine was over my cervix at around 8 weeks and the doctor claims the weight of the baby will make it start to inch up further, I hoping that is true but I wonder some times. I have been on pelvic rest since they discovered it. :(

I hope it moves, mine did not and I had him on Monday at 37+2 via planned C-section.

Came to know yesterday, I had a low lying placenta. But she was hopeful that it will move up as the uterus size grows. They will scan at 30+ weeks.

Hello

Im low lying too. and Anterior but can still feel baby which is good. I've got another scan at 34 weeks but midwife also says 99% of the time the placenta moves up as the uterus stretches up.

dont worry, you're should move up too :)

I was told at my 20 week scan that my placenta is partially covering the 'exit'. Have to go back at 36 weeks for rescan like other ladies above. I've been told its very common for it to move so am keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!! X
