So my LO is 6mnths & 1 week old & has never STTN! :dohh:
WHY??!!
Any advice on what i can do?
x

I'm sorry to say but it's very normal. My son didn't sleep through until 11 months and my daughter was over a year. Most adults don't sleep through without waking at all. A consistent bedtime routine helps but other than that it's mostly just a question of waiting until they are ready. :hugs:

Noah was about 21 months when he started to mostly sleep through and even now he wakes up some nights xxx

Yes but it might not be for awhile. Mine was about 20 months! & I think that age was the age she started to self settle herself back to sleep without crying more than the age where she could sleep constantly for 12 hours IYKWIM?

You dont say much about why your lo is waking but if its for milk are you sure it is really the reason? Cos the day after i stopped jumping up the minute bubba stirred and sticking on a bottle, and rather just putting his dummy back in he sttn. I know he'll cry if he's really hungry but he was obviously just going through sleep cycles, i ignored the shuffling and now he goes back off himself x

Holly is 9 months and doesn't STTN. She can't self settle, and I'm assuming she won't STTN til she learns to do it - I'm expecting to be in for the long haul. I can't wait to get some unbroken sleep soon though :haha: I don't think there's anything you can do, I guess some babies are good sleepers, and others aren't...

Yes but maybe not for a while my lo was 11 months. Up until then he was still waking at least twice for milk and I couldn't take it off him I'm too soft! One night he just slept through! He's only done it a couple of times since but I've never fed him again when he wakes x

i think it's just something they do on their own in time. :hugs:

It will happen eventually. My son started to sometimes STTN at 18 months.

I am another mommy of a child who has never STTN. My best advice is to not expect it and it makes the nights a little bit better. :hugs:

Zander didnt STTN until after being a year old and he still sometimes wakes at night asking for milk

Isobel and the babies from our antenatal group are all 6 months now give or take a couple of weeks either way. Most of them don't sttn and the ones that do are not consistent. I think its normal.

I found that just accepting it helps. "It is what it is". Sounds lame I know but I feel better about waking at 3am if I just tell myself its nothing to get upset about. I used to get really stressed about it but now I take it in my stride most nights. I don't know if I'll feel the same when I go back to work!

How often is she waking and does she have a bottle/breast? Is she weaning? Does she self settle? Does she wear a sleeping bag? There may be tricks you can try.

mine doesn't sttn either...she'll be 6 months next week..as a matter of fact she's going down around 8/9 and waking at 12, 2:30 and 5:30 then i'm up for work for the day at 6:30  tired tired mama. she doesn't self settle well at night, especially right now when she's trying to learn to crawl..i find her on all fours in her bed fussing and eventually crying....sometimes i can turn her back over on her back and she goes back to sleep but usually she wants boob time. even if she sleeps in my arms next to me, she wakes 2-3 times for boob time. i say boob time because i'm not so sure she's hungry each time..although usually she is.

it's hard...i'd settle for 2 wakings a night :) at midnight at 4 would be good! :)

Shes in a sleeping bag which has helped and is on 3 meals a day. I suppose i cant complain really as she goes down 6.30-7pm but just wriggles a lot, usually feeds at 11is and from then on can either want milk at 2 or start wriggling from midnight. it depends on the night i suppose!
I think i would probably freak out if she did sleep through. I was just wandering whats the norm as a lot of mums i know who have babies that are younger are apparantly sleep through!

Also OH says no more babies until we get at least a year of solid sleep! hahaha!
x

Aw sorry sweetie but mine still doesnt STTN, he wakes 2-3 times averagely :( He will one day but for now I'm just enjoying the cuddles :)

lucas slept from 7-7 with one waking at 10 from three to four months. then we hit the four month sleep regression... and never came out the other side!!! a few weeks ago he went a full 12 hours with no waking, no feeds, no dummy. just the once though. on a good night he wakes twice. on a bad night 8+. i've tried EVERYTHING, and given up. he's not going to do it just because i want him to lol

Georgia ia 11 months and doesnt sleep thru, her brother slept through from 8 weeks. I've resigned myself to the fact that she'll do it when she's ready but i must admit it's hard going sometimes now i'm back at work

i think people call sleeping throgh different things. One friend kept saying her baby slept through, so one day i asked about her routine. Turns out she goes to bed at 8pm, mum then stays up to midnight and gives her a dream feed(she would otherwise wakes up), she is then up at 5am for the day.

Now she goes to bed after my LO, has a feed every night at midnight which my LO doesn't and wakes up earlier, yetshe says she sleeps through and i don't claim my LO does
For info my LO goes down around 7ish, wakes usually once in the night anytime from 1-4am usually and then up around 7am. I consider her a good sleeper.

It'll happen eventually. Its not normal for them to STTN til about a year old but it can be later as well (and if you're lucky its earlier)

my lo sleeps through i do bath at 6:30 and feed in bed by 7 dream feed at 10:30 11 ish she sometimes stirs at 4ish but i leave her and she goes through till 7 feeds at 8 . have you tried the dream feed ? it doesnt happen over night it took us a while , but it doesnt always work for babies but give it a go x
