Will you be keeping baby's name secret til birth?

We're definitely keeping our names secret (not that we've officially decided yet but when we do) my mum said I have to tell her the name first because she might not babysit a child with a stupid name hahahaha she was kidding!! But I agree that you can be totally in love with a name and one sneer can ruin it for you so we're definitely keeping it a secret. So far when anyone asks I just say nope, no ideas!

Well I thought we were going to keep it secret but OH has been telling people at work. Although he had a bizarre name 'Pepper' that he liked aswell so I think that he was generally canvassing for opinions on a few names. We have decided on Ember as the first name, middle name still undecided. As far as I am aware he hasnt officially revealed Ember as 'the one' just thrown it in with other 'maybe's'!! Thankfully Ember received supportive reviews, especially when compared to his 'wild card' name of Pepper which I hate and so apparently does everyone else but him!!

I havent told any of my family but again he has run it as a maybe with his family and it went down fairly well. Wont tell my family until the big day as my mum can be a bit too honest in her opinions! The last time I threw a few choices at her a couple of months back she was like 'yeah that ones ok', 'dont like that one', 'that one sounds like a medical condition....'

I love Willow too. Thought about it for our baby but the surname is Payne and Willow Payne is a little too close to 'window pane'!

I told everyone the names we have picked out. For a boy we have Henry Joseph and for a girl Hannah Rose.

I'm thinking we will. I was talking to my sis in law about a girl's name that I liked (Florence) and she laughed hysterically saying it was awful:growlmad: I'm thinking she wouldnt have acted that way if the baby was here and we had officially named the baby. That really annoyed me:growlmad:

My friend's DD is called florence. I think it is a beautiful name and apparently she gets lots of compliments on how pretty it is ;) We haven't decided a name but i don 't think we will be telling anybody cos people always have something to say, and i think it is a nice surprise for everybody when the baby is born. Also, i have never heard anybody criticizing a baby's name as they know it is too late anyway.

My close friends told their parents their name 1st choices when they were expecting their first child, the FIL sneered at the boys name and said "your not really going to name your son that are you?" (the name was Markus) They ended up having a girl luckily as they hadn't come up with another boys name. Needless to say we kept our names secret with are first until after birth and are doing the same with #2. People are way too opinionated! It's hard enough coming up names that your child will have for their lifetime without having to find a new one if you suddenly have a distaste for it after an insensitive persons comment.

I wish I had my family staged a naming intervention a month ago. I picked a normal name for crying out loud!
