My baby has been in utter agony since I started weaning him about 6 weeks ago. Nearly always pulling his legs to his chest, screaming in pain and he is inconsolable. I don't know what to do! My husband and I are in despair and don't know what to do with our little man. I've tried all the aby yoga and massage techniques I was taught at the children's centre.
I started off slowly and gradually built up to 3 meals a day. He is 7 months and I'm doing traditional weaning. So far he's had carrot, swede, sweet potato, baby porridge, and parsnip. Baby rice made him more windy sowe stopped that immediately.
He eats really well and indicates that he wants more all the time. Should I take it back to basics and only give him 1 cube of root vegetable every meal? I don't even think he would tolerate the next stage of introducing meat etc.
Help please, any advice would be great, if it's either traditional weaning or baby led weaning. Thanks.

I only have experience of BLW (which I wholeheartedly recommend) but in your situation I would cut right down on the food. It sounds like his body hasn't adjusted to the food yet/properly so I would go back to one small meal a day, just a snack really. Forget about how much he 'should' be having - a 7 month old would be completely fine on just milk - and go slowly to give him time to adjust. Either that or stop solids completely and try again in another week or two with one small meal and see what happens. A week is a long time for a baby :)

If you wanted to give BLW a go, you might find it helps. You'll still be weaning but at first he'll probably not eat that much and will gradually increase the amount he swallows, giving his digestive system time to work out what to do with the food.

How did you start baby led weaning? Which foods did you start with? He's got 7 teeth already too.
You're totally right about toning it down. Poor little man, he's exhausted too because it disturbs his sleep too.
