Wondering about BFP/BFN's & how long it takes HCG to leave your system?

Hey dan-o, just wanted to give you an update. I tested positive again today so I called the EPU & they want to see me tomorrow for one of their tests, then I have to go for a blood test so they can see just how much of the hormone I have.

Hope you are feeling better today x

Thanks girls, maybe I should get back on the phone then.
They did scan me a week ago, but couldn't see much as it was very clotty in there.
She didn't think there was anything left.
To be honest they were more interested in measuring the cuts inside me.

I thought they did get darker at one point, but comparing todays to one i did two weeks ago, it is slightly lighter, like the difference a day makes after you get a BFP.

Progress at last!

My HCG was 1123 & my progesterone 8.7, taken 10 days ago in the A&E.
I'm having them taken again on wednesday to compare & make sure they are going down.

Swab results showed no infection, thank goodness.

I'm glad their retesting you... keeping my fingers crossed!! x x

great news hon - I'm glad you will have something to go on.
:hugs:

Really hope your getting somewhere now dan-o! looking forward to seeing your results!

BTW the consultant rang me yest and said they aren't concerned about my tubes anymore, he thinks the abs have done the trick :happydance: and they hope my ovarian cyst will resolve itself - but they will rescan in 6 weeks. He basically said I can now TTC afterall! :happydance:

But like you I haven't got a clue where I am in my cycle because I'm still bleeding!

But definatly feeling more optimistic

That's fantastic news moonmama! :yipee:

Oh for GOODNESS SAKE!!!! :hissy:

I shouldn't have POAS this morning, it's darker again :hissy:

Surely a line this dark can't be 'normal' for CD20, after a D&C?

You know, I'm actually starting to find this funny, talk about a one person disaster zone!! Or maybe I'm finally going bonkers!

Here's how HCG works when it comes to getting out of your system. The half-life is 24-48 hours, meaning every 36 hours on average the HCG's strength goes down 50%. Since it doubles about every 24-48 hours when pregnant, it can easily take at least as long as you were pregnant to get down to a negative, though some women's bodies manage to get it down quicker. Some women still ovulate during this time though and get pregnant again. But you'll still get positives for a while.

hmmmmmmmmmm - really interested to see what is happening to your HCG honey - when are you getting a follow-up blood test done? If it is indeed rising do you think there could be a chance that there is a new pregnancy???

:hugs:

Thanks aria! I had no idea it took just as long to leave our systems as it does to build up.

So it's possible I may not get a BFN until the beginning of june??!!!!

That test us super strong !!!huni..

when do u get the blood results?

Hi dan-o

Well, I went all the way to get blood tests to check my HCG levels, she did a pee test before & I tested negative . Sod's law I guess!!

Anyway, I have now moved onto :witch: watch. It never ends.

Hope you get answers soon

Hi applegirl :) I think it would be too soon for a new pg as we only BD for the first time 6 days ago, plus my chart doesnt show a thermal shift to indicate ov yet. Be nice if it was tho, lol!

Sarah, that is just sods law! Good news tho, you get to move on a box!! :D

Hi Lou :)

I got my bloods done for a few things today, the results will be back on friday or monday. I'll just keep poas as per usual until then! xx

OMG cant believe how strong that line is! How confusing for you! You poor thing! :hugs:

OK - thanks for letting me know babe. I've been trying to puzzle it out (was just hoping for the best :hugs: ), and of course I can't see your link to your chart here- could you possibly put a link in to one of your posts?

Yes - I have also heard it can take up to three months, and it depends on how high your HCG was before the loss, and the type of miscarriage you had. :hugs: I can't believe that the line is getting darker though!! That is really confusing!! Is it the same brand of test you are using? Really makes me wonder if the part of the placenta is still there...? :hugs:

Oops I forgot the siggies aren't on! Here's my chart :)

My temps aren't 100% reliable this cycle tho, I was mainly just looking for my ususal post ov ones so I knew when to expect :witch:

My HCG was 1123 almost a fortnight ago, that's the only beta I've had done so far. (apart from yesterdays)
I wonder how long it takes to drop from that?

I'm intrigued to see what the next one shows. My hpt's got a teeny bit lighter for a while, but it seems in the last two days they have darkened a bit, so weird. Maybe my HCG is staying the same & it's my pee which determines the darkness of the line?

Correct. For some women, their bodies can get it down quicker. Before I ended up infertile, I got pregnant at 18 and was in the beginning of the second tri when I had my first miscarriage, and it took about FIVE months for my period to come back and about three months for a negative.

It does happen though that someone women get negatives much faster, but I believe they are the minority. Forums such as this contain the women who are much more into trying to get pregnant and so are much more likely to pay attention to how fast it takes, so we're going to see some women who got pregnant just two weeks later and some who are waiting months later.
