Wondering if anyone could help me?

This was posted in TTC, but I guess it would be better here.

I'm going to the doctors tomorrow to see if I have PCOS. If I'm diagnosed with PCOS, and I'm not ovulating, would the doctor give me Clomid? Or is there a certain amount of time they'd wait?

Would my age come into it too. I'm 20 now, would they say I'm still young and let me keep trying naturally?

Sorry, can't find answers anywhere! Any help appreciated!

Hi hun,
I guess your GP will want to do further tests to confirm PCOS, blood tests, cycle day 21 blood tests to check for ovulation, ultra sound scan etc. Depends on how long you have been TTC...... some gp will say wait for 12 months. Your oh may need semen tests etc.
Some GPs will give clomid, some will refer to the infertility specialists.
You'll be able to ask all this at your appointment.el

ps age doesn't really matter, most gps seem to do specialist tests or refer to F if you can't conceive after 12 months of regular sex!

I think they're more prone to act faster if tests show that you have a proven fertility issue. We saw our FS after we'd been trying for 9 months as I have suspected PCOS, but some friends of ours weren't referred until they been trying 18 - 24 months because they had no obvious reason for sub fertility. I guess it depends on your GP and PCT.

If you are diagnosed with PCOS it's likely he will give you something like Metformin, which alone can induce Ovulation in PCOS patients, so there may not be a need for Clomid.
