Megan won't take her bottles getting 3-4oz in and she starts chewing the teat in order to get it from her mouth and flicks it with her tongue and refuses to latch on to the bottle.

Tried teat 2 teat 3 and recently variflow - all of which she took to for a metter of days then this!!

Do I try changing the bottle type? A friend sent me some Tommee tippees but I'm so narked if I have to try them after the problems with them pulling things off the shelves :growlmad: Most other bottles other than MAM (she won'yt touch) are simular teat shapes.

Any suggestions?

Are you using Avent bottles? Ruby is a bit younger than Megan but we had similar problems and had to go for stage 4 teats. She's been fine on these for over a month now. Alternativel, will she drink her milk from a cup?

Yer AVENT ...teat 2 too slow zzzz teat 3 choked vari no go

:(

Ruby choked slightly on the size 3 teats initially but she got used to them in a couple of days. No probs with size 4 though, strangely. I also found that feeding Ruby when she's not starving meant that she took the milk better when we were having problems...

If she won't go with teat 3 Ive no hope with 4  tried her for a handful of days gone back to them etc ...the variflow should have helped but nope again.

She just appears to be getting worse on milk time its almost like she doesn't want it!

Mine do this when they are teething. When a baby teeths they can apparently swallow up to a pint of saliva a day, which puts them off drinking normal fluids. Try giving Ashton & Parsons teething powders an hour before a feed and also using dentinox gel or anbesol gel on her gums. But she should be back to normal in a few days. The longest mine ever were off their milk was for a week. They still ate solids though so I made sure they got plenty of dairy in their meals instead.

I was also about to suggest teething. Hope she's back to normal soon :hugs:

Theo used to take 8oz, now he's only taking 3-4oz, he does exactly the same as your LO, so that's all I can get down him, HV said it's teething, too much suckling makes their gums really sore xx

Mines doing the same! I put it down to being interested in the bottle as she is holding it herself and putting it in and out of her mouth - everything is a toy these days.

Anyway bought size 3 teats today to see if it makes a difference, as instead of her 5 bottles a day we are on 8 some days as she gets bored half way through, so instead of 2 x 8oz she''ll have a 5oz, a 5oz and a 6oz just so it's much quicker and less ''interesting''.

Tyler is the same atm, he is really fussy with all his bottles and just bites the teat, some days he will only drink about 10oz all day :( i try to build it up with given milk in his cereal, cheese sandwhiches/spread and yogurts!!

I would also think that it may be because she is teething. Perhaps try some orajel and see if that helps her hon. Chase did the same thing at around 7 months.

Sounds like teething to me also.

Avent do the spouts for the bottles, I found the boys liked to use them rather than a teat when they were teething, they didn't hurt so much and they could also have a good chew at them. (plus they liked the handles by that point too)

No idea how the teats would work with BF though. The boys were FF.

Amber is BF and will only take the TT bottles (and I have the stupid BPA and marking free ones! :growlmad: fun fun fun).
