My gorgeous boy is 4 weeks old. Hes had what may be colic for 2 weeks now. Tried everything to soothe him. He can cry up to 5 hours at a time! Tried everything possible.. infacol, dentinox, colief, massage, swaddling, baths etc.

Anyway last week after pressure from others I put him on formula comfort milk. He was on this for 3 days. I went through the guilt, the pain of engorged breasts etc.

On the 3rd day I finally managed to get in at my gp, who said it is colic and confirmed formula has made him worse.

Anyway.. Weds at 1pm I decided I wanted to breastfeed and sod everyone else and their pressure. He fed well til 3am thursday as he emptied both engorged breasts for feeds.
Thursday in the day and yesterday I've had to give formula with feeds because I had barely any milk.
Last night I managed no formula feeds and hes only had 1oz all day.

Im taking fenugreek and eating oats cereal. Been trying to pump inbetween feeds but cant get more than a few drops.

But i keep getting the let down tingling and pain.. but dont leak. my nipples murder and so do the glands in my breasts.

Does anyone know how long it will take until my milk is back to normal? Atm they constantly feel saggy and empty.

I am putting him on the breast as much as possible x

:)

You are doing something for him that no-one else in the whole world can do. Your gift to him is irreplaceable, and will last a lifetime.

Congratulations!!!!

well done for giving BF a second chance  my milk nearly dried up when I had my 2nd daughter (becasue I stopped eating) and I was devastated so I just fed her constantly and it only took a few days for my production to re-adjust.

I would persevere with no formula top-ups (unless your baby is distressed with hunger). You probably think they feel empty compared to when they were engorged but there will still be milk there. Stick with it :hugs::hugs:

It's great your giving breastfeeding a second chance - you sound amazingly determined! Make sure you have lots of skin on skin contact, this will really help! and try massaging your breasts too.

Good luck!

Hey well done. Try and get him to feed as much as possible to try and increase your supply. My LO suffered with wind at first he was a nightmare bringing it up he didnt used to cry but was constantly squirming around, he grew out of it and will now usually burp on his own. Have u got a sling? As this might help soothe him by being close to you xx
