im on mat leave at the moment due back dec. i work in a call centre but not on the phones, my team is not taking calls. i have worked there 6 years, 2 years on the phones and 4 years off them.

i want to go back to work working 4 days 1 week and 3 days the other week. they have said i can only do these hours if i go back on the phones which i really dont want to as i feel like iv just taken a step back 4 years.

so im now thinking of working full time, im quite lucky as my husband works shifts he works 7 days and has 3 days off and works some nights.

i kinda have to work full time as we want to move house (we currently live in a tiny new build apt which is not suitable) and need pennies.

im really worried that if i go back full time i will miss spending precious time with jacob and my husband.

does anyone work full time and find it difficult? how do you manage?

thanks

Sorry no advice but didn't want to read and run. That is same tussle I'm having and have just put in a request to work part time, waiting to hear back. Hope you get something sorted out :)

I had to go back to work full time after i had DS and will again after I have bump. It's one of those horrible situations, I would much rather be at home but I know that if I didnt work then we wouldnt be able to afford to have days out or buy him things when he needed them. I feel bad that i've missed out on things but I know my mum looks after him really well and we still got his first steps.

thats just how i feel, doesnt help that my dh says id be better going pt on the other team, but i really dont want to do that job.
im just waiting for work to come back to me as to wether i can work ft but 9-3.30 instead of 9-5.30.
really think they will say no though.

It must be a hard decision to have to make. I went back to work part time (only 3 days a week) and I still hate every second of being away from my baby. I am earning less money, and we've had to cut back but if I'm honest I don't care because these early days are so precious and I hate missing a second. However I really don't blame you for not wanting they job they've proposed. Like you said it would be like taking a step backwards. Good luck and let us know how it goes x

Just noticed you live in Bradford - I'm over in Huddersfield!
