Hi,

My OH has got offered a job working 0 contracted hours, does anyone know if I can claim any benefits? I have also been short listed for an interview but is only 9.5 hours. I am pretty worried about coping financially.

I was just talking to my second cousin who works in tax credits and he says if your on a zero hour contract but work an average of 24 hours or more per week you can claim working tax credits :) I always thought it just went on contracted hours. So it depends on how many hours your partner gets. If he gets 24+ hours for 4 or more Weeks in a row apply for wtc :)

Do you already get child tax credit? You should definitely get that

What your contract says doesn't matter, benefits are based on how much you work and what you earn

Yeah we get child tax credits, I honestly hate this benefit system, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer!
