Worried about 12 lb weight gain 16 weeks pregnant :s

Can someone please give me some advice? I had only put on 7lb by 12 weeks and the last four weeks I have put on 5 more, I feel really big compared to other people the same weeks as me and my weight gain seems excessive, help!:wacko: x
 
I was possibly worse than you... I never exactly weighed myself properly before getting pregnant but I reckon by my 16 week appointment I had put on 14-18 pounds. In the last three weeks I haven't put on any but my bloat has gone and my bump is bigger, so I reckon I have actually lost some body weight in exchange for bump!
I think as long as you are eating healthily, I really wouldn't worry. Everyone is differet in how the gain pregnancy weight and how much in total so try not to compare with others, even though I know that's hard. xx
 
Thank you, going to have to make a concerted effort though to stop giving in to cravings for chips, I don't think that's doing me much good! x
 
You may also be retaining water which can add a few lbs. I put on 6 lbs between week 14 and week 18 and now the weight gain has eased off a bit. Don't worry :hugs:
 
everyone is different. Im quite big and have only put on 1lb since getting pregnant. however i lost alot in the first tri as I was quite ill so all the weight iv put on so far is just baby.
 
I also had a weight surge between 13-17 weeks - freaked me out - but its settled down now considerably. I have been hovering around the stone mark for about 3 weeks now. At week 15-16 I put on 4 pounds in 7 days!

Dont worry too much about it - try and eat relatively sensibly - but again dont stress if you can only think of chips - its not ideal but weight can be lost later and its not harming your baby.

Ohh chips, I had that craving too! With me it wasn't the chips but the salty vinegar - I was quite happy to give the chips to the OH and I licked out the bottom of the carton lol!!
 
what type of chips do you crave? as i will let you on a little healthy chip secret.... own made in oven, fry lite! cut up spuds n part boil them for 5 mins, dry off, put on oven tray and spray with fry lite... roast and done! you can even add garlic salt on them etc if you fancy flavouring them. salt n vinegar on them is reaaaally nice too, lol.
but i wouldnt worry about your weight gain... yes if you put on 3 stone in that time maybe worry.. but not something that is baby weight, water and everything else that body fat stores for making breast milk. xxx

Thanks! Great tip. It actually went right back down again the next day to an 8lb gain, my scales are usually accurate so I am wondering if it fluctuates that much in a day?! x
 
I could easily lose 4 pounds overnight, especially now I'm pregnant. That says to me almost definately water retention! x
 
Don't worry hun I've put on about 14lbs since I got pregnant if not more..! I was worried about it but the midwife says it's fine I'm still a healthy weight, and I actually feel happier so I'm sure ur fine! :)
 
Much appreciated! I have found I am actually only 8lb gained now but by the end of the day I'm more bloated. Must be some water retention still, goodness knows how when I drink loads of water! x
 
I've put on 10lbs in 6 weeks (since my 9 week booking in). But I wouldn't worry. Everyone responds differently and unless the midwife is concerned then don't be. xxx
