Hey everyone. I have a tommee tippee movement monitor which has been a godsend until recently. About 4 weeks ago, I went into Luke in the morning when he woke and the red light on the monitor was flashing, no alarm going off so it was telling me something had happened in the night but then gone back to normal. Now Luke moves all over his cot so i assumed that he moved too far from the sensor (the sensitivity is on high btw). The next week, in the middle of the night the alarm went off but only for about 2 seconds, I went running in, Luke breathing fine and asleep right over the sensor. This now happens at least 2 nights a week, alarm for 2 seconds but enough to scare the absolute life out of me. Please could anyone advise me why this happens, or if you are experiencing the same with this make. is it a fault, could it be he is stopping breathing, is he now too old for a monitor as I read their breathing slows as they get older? Any replies greatly appreciated xxx

I have the angel care and had it go off a couple of times but stop before I get to her room, sleep apnoea is common in babies I have been told xx

Oooh that sounds terrifying. I only had the problem when my LO would roll to the other side of the cot, it would never go off when he was lying on it. Maybe you could try the place where you bought it and they might give you a new one if its faulty?

Sorry to bring this thread back up but has anyone else had trouble with this sensor my little boy is 4 days old today and I used the mat for the last two nights and it had been fine then from 5am this morning it went off 3 times and scared the life out of me. My son was fast asleep in his Moses basket breathing fine I'm not sure why it's started going off after being fine for the past two nights. I ended up taking my boy out of his Moses basket and putting him in bed with me to make sure his breathing ok and he seems fine. Anyone else had this problem with there sensor mats etc? Xx

Hey hun

I had the Tommee Tippee but broke it so switched to the Angelcare.

We've never had a false alarm on either.

Does it have a sensitivity setting you can turn up??

Did you buy it new or second hand? If it was new I'd take it back and tell them it's going off when your LO is lying right over it and breathing fine, they should replace it if it's faulty xx

I have it too and am experiencing exactly the same problem, i wonder if its a common fault? it frightens me tho if it is faulty cos i scared that they may be a time when lo is not breathing and it wont go off xx

I'm still having problems with mine, it has gone off every night this week and now I dread going to bed cos I know I'm going to have the extreme fear when it goes off. Last night, I was watching tv, looked at the portable monitor and the red light was flashing, no alarm had even gone off. Shot up the stairs and Luke was fast asleep snoring. So many people I have read of have this problem with false alarms, I'm surprised they haven't been recalled as they obviously have a huge fault. I still persevere though as I would rather get up to a false alarm then risk not using it and god forbid anything happened. I wish I wasn't such a worrier!

Im super paranoid about it it went off 3 times in the space of 3 hours it really scared the hell out of me. I'll turn it up to hi as its on mid i think at the moment. Just dont understand as it was working fine from 9pm till 5am then it started going stupid. If i have problems with it again tonight i will go out an get the angelcare one i think. xx

sorry you are all having problems - i have had no issues with mine

We have the tommee tippee one aswell, we had no problems with it when my LO was in her basket, but now she's in her cot it goes off if she moves off it, i've noticed tho sometimes the alarm only goes off for a second then stops and then other time's it goes off until you turn it off. The alarm shouldn't be going off in the moses basket for no reason, as there's not enough room for him to be moving off it. I'd say it sounds faulty? maybe take it back if it keeps on doing it?
