Just got back from my 28 week appointment, when she measured me she said that baby was a wriggler which we knew.

Now she doesn't move all the time, but when she does she moves like mad for about an hour.

DH asked mw if there was a problem with too much movement and all she said was that when some people have had a sad loss in 3rd tri that they've reported excessive movement beforehand! Now this has worried me, I was worried about too little movement but now I have to watch for too much movement too! :(

ummm well thats got me a worried then although my mw always says its good that bumpy moves around so much

**edit, actually shes always said that its good that you have lots of movement and theres never been any reason to be worried about it.

That's odd. I thought movement was a good thing?? I'm worried now because my LO is REALLY active .. I wish pregnancy came with a book telling us EXACTLY how much movement we should be feeling.. If it's too little then they say to worry and now we have to worry when it's too much?? Why can't they make their mind up :growlmad::nope:

I really wouldnt worry hun :hugs:
wish these mw woldnt scare pregnant women like this ffs :(

I have posted a similar thread as my friend has made me worry. Everyone told me not to worry. Here is the link to the thread if you want to reassure yourself.

Well I said I know baby moves quite a bit but she always has had her moments, mostly at night when I'm slouched on sofa so she said as long as the movements aren't excessive for me then not to worry but if they are then get checked at the hospital!

She also made it sound like she sees people with 3rd tri losses all the time which threw me as I thought it was rare.

Now I'm really wishing this pregnancy will hurry up so I can know one way or the other :(

maybe I should change mw!

Aww thanks everyone :hugs:

and thanks for the link to the other post, gonna try and not be concerned now, I'd rather she moved lots than not at all! :)

Girls i cant believe a mw would say something so insesitive and stupid. Ive had a third tri loss and my baby boy definately didnt move loads before he died. It makes me so angry when they say things like this on a whim and then bugger off leaving you all stressed and worried.:hugs:

That's just silly. My LO almost never stopped moving. In fact, the MW was laughing because he was moving all through my labour too. No such thing as too much movement.

the only thing i have heard that even remotely makes any sense with what she says is that it could be a problem if you have BH contractions and your baby has frantic jerking movements with the contractions.

i agree that some medical staff just say things off hand not realizing that it is going to stick with you and scare you!!

Mine always kicks the midwife when she has a feel and she never comments on mine moving too much so it must be ok.

Ive been making babies for 10 years now lol, and NEVER heard that before! My lo moves so violently sometimes it scares me, even my dr saw him do it and she giggles and say thats one healthy baby! So, I dont know why she would say that! Is she really young or new at being a mw? Maybe she was unable to have kids of her own and is just a bitter woman! Im sorry, but I think that was totally wrong, and out of line. If she had any concerns with your lo's well being, maybe she should have kept her trap shut and send you for a scan!

(my hormones are a little off today :p)

I've got an anti natal class tonight and midwife tomorrow so I'll try to remember to ask at one or both of these but I can't believe your MW would be that insensitive!

As the others have said, my LO moves around a lot and has done since early on in 2nd trimester.

Mine has always been a wriggler and everyone professional who has had a feel or a look has commented on it. My MW only said a wiggly baby is a happy baby.

Oh My God! What a thing for her to say! :nope:

I had my consultant appointment today and when he asked if the baby had been active i said yes he hardly ever stops and it's like he's doing a mexican wave all the time, he said great  Whilst he was concerned about my baby being on the small side (i have to have a growth scan next wednesday) the fact that he moves loads was not an issue

Hope you're feeling a bit better after everyones comments :hugs:

I also didn't think there was such thing as too much movement

My midwife told me to keep an extra eye on movements, as I'm at risk of having a small baby again, so the fact he's a wriggler was a good thing to her

They can be sooooo insensitive, they shouldn't be in the job if they can't say things nicely :growlmad:
