I had mirena taken out almost 2 weeks ago (had it for almost 5 years) & I have not bleed at all yet. My doctor had told me I would have a really heavy period about 72 hours afterwards.

I've been doing some research & have read stories of women who did not naturally start their period for several months & had to start taking provera (which scares me to death!) Hubby & I were hoping to start TTC by June but at this rate who knows! It's frustrating because I have NO IDEA if I'm even ovulating & would prefer to not have to do protected sex if we don't have to (we are only doing it now b/c to let uterus thicken post IUD). I'm also hoping to pinpoint an exact time that we'll be able to start TTC since we have a lot of vacations & trips planned this summer!

Is anyone else willing to share their experience with post IUD removal & when they started their period? Am I just overreacting & needing to be patient? Also does anyone know of any natural ways to help get your body back on tract after an IUD (I'm really regretting ever having this thing placed, I was completely regular before this!).

Thanks

Hey there! I actually just had my mirena removed almost 4 weeks ago myself, and my doctor didn't give me any indication as to when to expect af. She said it could take up to 3 months for my cycle to regulate. Surprise for me though, mine started within 2 hours of removal!! I wouldn't be too concerned about not having yours start yet...i think it sounds totally normal for your body to be thrown off when the hormones it's been used to having for 5 years disappear!

I've been (foolishly) trying to track my cycle with bbt and opk, but it's all over the place due to the mirena removal. Just be patient!! I'm confident that by may/June for us both things will be looking more regular!
