I have been told that I have to go back to work on 26th June. I'll be working 2 x 12 hour shifts per week as this is the cheapest option. I cant afford to not work so have been looking for nurseries,

the thing is I really scared about sending him to nursery. The main reasons are..

1, how will I breast feed? He wont drink from anything but me & I dont want to stop. I cant believe I even suggested to my hubby today that I would try formula.. this really upsets me :hissy:

2, He will only fall asleep on the boob. What happens when I'm not there?

3, I dont want to leave him with anyone else

I could cry just thinking about it. Does anyone else feel like this & how do you get over it?

I know its selfish & everyone has to do it but how?

On days that I think about having to go to work I still cry to myself at night :( I cannot stand it and it absolutely tears me up to even think about it.
Sorry, I know I'm not helping :dohh:

Hi
Its horrible isnt it. Why not try introducing a bottle to him slowly with expressed breast milk to give him time to get used to it. You may have to try various different teats before he finds one that he will drink from.
Regarding naps, he will have to start getting used to napping on his own one day anyway so why not try that now too.
He probably wont nap at nursery to begin with because he is in new surroundings but he will soon start to feel more relaxed in time.

Look around and visit as many nurseries as possible until you find one you like.

Ideally you want one where there is a small age gap in the baby room, eg: 0-1yrs not 0-2yrs because a 2 year old toddler is quite big compared to a 7 month old baby.

Have a look at their menu - is there a separete one for babies and another for the older children?

Have questions written down that you want to ask them so you dont forget.

Try and ask for more than the standard 3 settling in sessions as I personally think 3 aren't enough to make them feel relaxed.

Good luck
