Hi ladies

Im due in the next few weeks and have stocked up on SMA Gold cartons of ready made for change bag and night feeds around 20 and 3 cans for the cupboard, but everyone i have spoken to now ive got them keeps saying ohhh it will cause constipation and prob buy aptimil, have i wasted all that money or could i give it a try first any good stories re SMA please??? just worried im going to be making him have constipation knowingly..

Thank you so much xxx:shrug:

Sorry hun didnt want to read and run but i dont have a good tale to tell either, Jaden was very sick and constipted on SMA. We changed to C&G and he was fine.

I would give him a try on SMA there must be plenty of babies who are fine on it ir they wouldnt be in business lol. Its not as difficult as people make out to change formula so if you have problems you can switch. x

Every baby is different hun, just because some babies are constipated by it wont mean yours is, you wont know until he is here.
I used SMA gold with DS and he was absolutely fine, it is the one that the government used in return for the milk tokens too. I used aptamil in the hospital with Elle and she didnt take to it and every bottle came back up so we moved on to Cow and Gate which is fine for her but would have had no problems using SMA gold if thats what OH had bought.

xx

im using sma gold with max, and he is fine on it, although he has been having a small amount of water each day as we live in spain and i dont want him getting dehydrated coz of the heat. (so that may be stopping him getting constipated)

My LO has been on SMA gold since birth (although she won't drink the milk from a carton) and she's fine

Brooke has has SMA since birth and she's been fine

I agree with what someone els ehas already said, all babies are different so dont listen to people trying to scare you off onto the brands that they use!!

Lucas has had SMA since birth and we've had no problems. He had reflux and before I worked that out I thought maybe SMA didn't agree with him so I changed him over to Cow & Gate and that REALLY didn't agree with him so it really does depend on the baby I think!

Lovley ladies THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH i was just worried id wasted all that money was all and that i was making LO have tummy probs before ive even started lol - THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH again mwah xxxxx

Every baby is different hun. We used SMA in hospital when he wouldnt feed from me (only 2 bottles and we were in 3 days) but he was ok on it.

I breastfed for 6 weeks but he had 1 bottle of aptamil at night and then we moved onto that fully once i stopped BFing and he was awful on it. So windy!!

Moved onto C&G and he is fine on it

xx

Harrisons on SMA gold, no problems :)

I gave Jayden sma and he was fine on it. But when i was a baby i didnt like it and i had c&g.

all babies are different and you will find what works for your baby.

Jacob loves his SMA :) he's been on it from day one and we've had no problems so far! Every baby is different.

my 2 kids were fine on it right up untill 1year old! and then it was cows milk, although i wouldnt have stocked up in it incase they never took to it x

I think for every baby that does good on it there will always be one that isnt. I have not tried it on kacey. i started on aptimal and she is fine on that but there will be babys that arnt. You will no if its not right for your babys

every baby is different- my baby ended up being really sick on sma- would throw up the whole feed everytime.
on aptimal she was a lot better because its lighter in their tummy and the most like breast milk.
could you not maybe take it back and make an excuse and swap it for something else?

I would not have stocked up personally but there's no reason your baby will have any more difficulty tolerating SMA than Cow and Gate, Aptamil or whichever.
I hear a lot of people saying Cow and Gate made their baby sick but Ruby has been drinking it since day 3 and has never had a problem.
And if your baby seems uncomfortable or whatever, don't assume it's the SMA!! Chopping and changing formula without good reason isn't good for them.

Fisrt daughter loved SMA second daughter hated it and loves Cow and Gate. Hope it is ok for your baby.

Thanks again ladies - deffo right i wish i hadnt stocked up was just thinking of not having to shell out in one go ive doen it over 3 months on the shopping to eek it out.
I think i may attempt to take some back, worth a try isnt it. Fingers crossed and thanks all of you again xxx

As long as it isnt open im sure you would be able to take it back

xx
